Born and raised in Steelville, Illinois, Tim Beattie has captured the hearts of fans all across the United States and spent an energized 20 years creating music, where people came to know him as a friend as well as a star performer.
His earliest memories of playing and being influenced by music occur when Tim was only 5 years of age; He would bang on boxes at his father's jam sessions. Tim comes from a family of musicians, and began playing the guitar at age 10. His life changed when he heard his dad playing an old album of Charlie McCoy, and when he heard the strange but haunting sounds of the harmonica, he was stopped in his tracks. Tim knew that the harmonica was what he was meant to play.
At the age of 18, Tim joined his first band, Footloose, adding lap steel to his accomplished harmonica and guitar playing. During this time, Duanne Allman and David Lindley became the two major slide guitar influences for Tim. Footloose opened for such bands as Molly Hatchet, Pure Prairie League, Ozark Mountain Dare Devils, and others. From Footloose, Tim moved to Los Angeles where he auditioned for The Four Horsemen; a band with American Records; a Rick Rubins Label, produced by George Drakoulias. His experience with The Four Horsemen moved Tim to New York City where he played and dedicated over 3 years of his talent to the band. Tim later joined Marry Me Jane, which was signed to Sony 550. Tim co-wrote on several songs and played lap steel, acoustic guitar, harmonica, and sang back up vocals. Their first album was a success, which became the featured soundtrack for the movie, "If Lucy Fell," a 1996 movie featuring Ben Stiller, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Elle McPherson. "If Lucy Fell" was the first movie since The Graduate where an entire album was used as the soundtrack. While he was with Marry Me Jane, Tim toured and opened for such bands as Aerosmith, Space Hog and several others.
Tim Beattie signed a lucrative publishing contract with Universal in New York City where he spent over 7 years writing and co-writing over 60 amazing songs. While in New York, Tim started his band, Tim Beattie and Big Dog. His first album was self-produced with Lance Doss and features such southern rock songs as "Roots" and "Lost Highway." Love songs, "Baby Blue" and "Better Man" also emerged from this album. While in New York, Tim perfected his musical and lyrical talents and worked with amazingly talented writers. Tim lived the life of a dedicated musician while in New York and tested songs on the toughest audience in America, the New York City subway passengers. There he encountered some unbelievable experiences, which he writes about in his music and which have helped shaped his life forever.
Tim Beattie has lived a full life, incorporating his experiences in the music he makes. He has sacrificed much to become the best musician he can be, writing over 80 haunting, beautiful and well-crafted songs about love found, love lost, and the beauties of everyday life. After the tragedy of 9-11, Tim moved to Nashville, TN where he has written with great songwriters such as Angelo, Tom Littlefield, Dan Baird, Tom Hambridge, Kim Parent and Jon Bollinger.
He is currently hard at work: playing, writing and singing his music in as many different ways as he can every day. In addition to studio session work, touring, and writing, he plays and sings for commercials such as Pizza Hut, Skippy Peanut Butter, Oreo Cookies, Kodak, Havoline Oil, K-Mart, Targe and hundreds of others. Tim also is currently touring with Brad Cotter, Earl Thomas Conelly, Smokey Lonesome, and others. He has opened up for many top recording artists such as Gretchen Wilson, Joe Nichols, Rushlow, and Billy Currington. Tim Beattie is currently working on his second album.
