About TIM CARROLL EVERY FRIDAY @ The 5 Spot 6-8pm!
THE DEVIL IS A BUSY MAN
most recent CD
From rural Indiana, near Terre Haute. Guitar player in '70's punk band, The Gizmos (Gulcher Records), out of Bloomington, IN. Played in '80's New York City bar band, The Blue Chieftains (Diesel Only Records). Have lived in Nashville, TN since 1993. Songs I have written have been recorded by John Prine, Asleep At The Wheel, BR-549, Robbie Fulks, Kasey Chambers, Elizabeth Cook, Bare Jr., Sunny Sweeney, Sonny Burgess and others.
In 1995 had the honor of having my photo on the cover of Billboard magazine in an article about Nashville's Lower Broadway music scene. In 1996 was nominated for a Nashville Music Award in the category of Best Unsigned Artist. In 1997 signed with Seymour Stein's Sire Records.
In 1999 had two recordings on major motion picture soundtracks - the movie "Election" features song "Find A Way To Win" (Sire Records) and the movie "Drop Dead Gorgeous" features "A Girl That's Hip"(Sire Records).
Since 2000, have moonlighted on The Grand Ole Opry hundreds of times as sideman to my wife, Elizabeth Cook. Have also played in Japan, England, Scotland, Wales, France, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, and Korea.
Released CDs - "Not For Sale" (self-released, 2000) "Free Again" (self-released, 2001) "If I Could" (Shoeshine Records, Scotland, 2001) "Always Tomorrow" (Sideburn Records, 2002) "Good Rock From Bad" (Sound Asleep Records/Sweden, 1996)(Buffalo Records/Japan, 2002) "The Devil Is A Busy Man" (self-released, 2007).
To purchase any of these CDs, either contact me here on myspace or write to me at P.O. Box 330445 Nashville, TN 37203. Prices for my CDs are $20 for one, $30 for two, $35 for three, $40 for four, until, eventually, if you order enough, they're free.
Here's a somewhat biographical review written by Austin, TX journalist John Conquest: "Carroll's arc, from playing rhythm guitar with Bloomington, IN 70s proto-punk band The Gizmos to playing lead guitar at The Grand Ole Opry behind his wife Elizabeth Cook, is rather more extreme than the usual run of punk to country transitions, but also one of the most successful and best integrated. ... his punkish and infectious delight creates rock & roll sounds that counterpoint his nonchalant, conversational and intelligent songs..."

It was so great to meet you and Elizabeth!!! You guys are so nice to an up and comer with out a big name yet. I love your work, and didn't realize that I knew more of your songs than originaly popped in my head from pouring liner notes. You my friend, I am proud to call you that, are a musician and human I aspire to be more like. You guys were so cool to me and I'll never forget that. Thank you so much. As a 28 yr old who plans on doing this till they lay me down you were a great uplifting force at just the right time. Take care and I hope to see you perform again soon.
Tim: I am sooooo glad I got a chance to finally see you play live. I had heard so many good things about you and seen you on video but, seriously, I didn't know you were THAT good.
You are one hell of a guitarist. Wow! Incredible.
I hope I get to see you play live again soon. All respect, always. Andy
