I hope every one started the new year with a "BANG" The Band are very excited as this year hold the release of my first release of my solo project. This recording will be different than any thing I have ever done. I cant wait to use all of the vocal and musical tool's the band and I have in our bag of tricks. In other news Mike, Nancy our "fearless leader" and I have officially finished the mix on the Metal Routs theme song as well as the mastering. Keep an eye out for Metal Routs News. Last Sat. and Sunday I stayed in Maryland to finish up the Metal Routs theme song "Carry The Torch" Metal Routs! We are working with "Mike Engle'" at Rolling Hills Recording Studio. Mike Engle's sheer love of music really shines threw when working with him. He takes the time to check all of the options, different mics, different rooms, amps and guitars. Each have there different sounds and quality's as does different engineers. I have worked in a lot of different studios and it is always a pleasure working at Rolling Hills Recording Studio with Mike. They have a great engineers and high end equipment. I highly recommend this studio. On this particular session we began mixing and I did the final touches on the Vocal's and Russ Strahan laid a couple more Guitar tracks down for a nice "Fat" sound. We also did minor taping for the music video. We intended on getting more video footage taped but there was more serious work to be done. Sunday all of the Metal Routs "Pit Crew"/ our staff, came in and laid down gang vocal tracks. I was the vocal director for this segment. Every one did a great job, although I did hear the song a million and ten times but, that's the studio:). Quite a few of the Pit Crew are singers so they were quite Independent but other's were not. It was fun for me to walk them threw the recording of there parts. Cool to see them in that light. Unfortunately the gang vocals that were recorded at one time fazed out the music tracks forcing a major drop in levels making us record every member of the Pit Crew individually. This is what ate up most of our time. We are holding another shoot July 15 and want to give the metal heads in the D.C., Va. and Md. areas an opportunity to be in the Metal Rout's music video. Rehearsal went killer last Sat. for the theme song to the web show! "to the studio" it was a pleasure jamming with seasoned musicians. Buddy Buell, Chris Perneia, Russ Strahan, I had a blast!! I've known all of these guys for yyyeeeaaarrrsss and never seen this line up coming.
