Hello friends/family/film people,
You are invited to the first public screening of a locally produced feature length movie, The Vampires of Zanzibar!
The screening is taking place at a new night club on the edge of Roanoke County/Boones Mill called "Southside 220"
(featured on the front page of the Roanoke Times not long ago).
ADDRESS: Southside 220, 7963 Franklin Rd., Boones Mill, VA, 24065
DATE and TIME: April 18th, Saturday night, 8PM (movie starts at 9PM).
DIRECTIONS: from downtown Roanoke, take rte. 581/ rte. 220 (away from highway 81) towards Boones Mill. Pass Walmart on your left. When
you pass Ancient Art Tattoo on your right, go 6 more miles, and it is a big club on the right side of the road with a big sign that reads "Tattoo",
you can't miss it.
My friend and one of the stars of the movie, Royce Hobson,
owns the tattoo shop upstairs called Black Label Tattoos. Me, him and other cast members will be at the screening to talk
about the making of the movie and answer questions after the movie. Please spread the word to anyone who might want to go, as I have
misplaced a lot of the actors/crew contact lists.
I, personally, have spent about one full time year working on this movie night and day, and over 150 cast and crew
were involved from Virginia (over 100 alone from Southwest VA), Sweden, Iceland, NY, Florida, L.A., West Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio to name a few.
They all came to Roanoke, VA (called "Zanzibar, VA" in the movie) in the summer of 2007 to film this feature length movie,
and the movie is FINALLY COMPLETE.
The cover fee is $9 (you get $1 back if you fill out a feedback form on the movie), and you get a lot!...
Free home made food at a buffet table, both vegan and with meat. There will be an opening band going on at 8PM, doors open at 7PM.
The movie itself starts at 9PM, followed by a question/answer session with some of the cast/filmmakers. And finally,
You are invited to The Vampires of Zanzibar First Screening. NEXT SUNDAY, MARCH 1, in Roanoke, VA!!!
This is at Royce Hobson's new night club/tattoo shop (Royce is one of the stars of The Vampires of Zanzibar). There will be two live bands playing around the screening. Admission I think will be $5, not sure yet, I will update this tonight when I can call Royce to verify... but it is a definite, March 1, Sunday, I am renting a big projecotr and we are bringing in a lot of chairs to seat maybe 200 people or so. (If you are out of town, take interstate 81, then you go onto route 581 into Roanoke. Or if you in Roanoke, go like you are leaving Roanoke, towards Boones Mill on 581 or Route 221 I think it becomes, like you are going toward Smith Mt. Lake... go 6 miles past Ancient Art Tattoo shop and it is on your right, a night club and I think it still has a really, really big sign that reads "Tattoo," you can't miss it. It is before you get to Boones Mill on your right.
So, yeah, first screening of The Vampires of Zanzibar, and you are invited. Not sure when it starts, maybe 3PM, maybe 6PM, but I will update my bulletin tonight or tommorrow morning as soon as I find out...
If you are interested in attending, please write me, seriously. I'd love to have you, thanks so much.
