   About Time Wasters
Formed in 2004 , by bassist Al Swainger, Time Wasters offer a sublime mix of subtle syncopation, daring time changes and technical dexterity combined with good, honest, down to earth groove. Whether playing straight ahead or something a little more exotic, the music is never delivered with anything short of passion and intensity by a genuinely first rate band.

Featuring many of the South West’s finest musicians, Time Wasters provides a perfect showcase for the formidable level of talent on offer, yet without ever losing sight of the most important aspect of any music - having fun and enjoying playing.

Relentlessly energetic Time Wasters specialise in Funk, Hard Bop & Latin Fusions with a 7 strong lineup that makes for a BIG sound.

Time Wasters are always enthusiastically received wherever they play and have been regular performers at the Exeter Autumn Festival, Vibraphonic Festival, Exeter Jazz Club, Totnes Jazz Collective and have appeared twice, to great acclaim, at the
Hayne Barton Jazz Festival (2006/2007) as well as live, in an hour long special, on Vibraphonic FM (2006)

Devotees may be pleased to know that Time Wasters have just released their first CD entitled ’Welcome to Wasteland’.

Coombeshead Studios

Jun 10 2008 2:31 AM

Coombeshead Studios are now looking to take on summer 2008 recording slots. If you are in a band and need a professional recording, we offer sessions at just £12.50 an hour on weekdays and £20 an hour on evenings (after 6pm) and weekends. All this paid time can be spent recording - mixing and editing can be done afterwards at no extra charge. If you wish to arrange a session, please message us and we will give you a list of available dates. Check out our top friends for examples of the recording quality, and the ’music’ section to see who we have worked with!

We also offer CD duplication at between 75p and £1.50 per CD for most requirements. This gets you a case, a print directly onto the CD face (no stickers!) and inlays. Contact us with your requirements for a quote. Recordings do not have to be made at Coombeshead to qualify for this offer - if you already have recordings let us know and we can provide duplication for you!

We would like to thank all the bands who supported Coombeshead Studios during 2007. It was our busiest year ever at just short of 100 bands, and allowed us to spend several thousand pounds on some major upgrades, launching us from a low budget studio to a fully professional setup. We continue to offer our low budget prices but offer a greater flexibility of control and greatly improved quality!

!!Basement Studio Update!!!

The Basement Studio is now running free open access sessions in Bristol again. These sessions are for young people at all levels of music interest and experience. There are two areas: Live music – with drum kit, bass, electric or acoustic guitars, keyboard and mics; Urban music – with music tech, DJing and MCing. There are 3x 40 min slots in each area every session. Each area is run by a tutor who will talk to you about what you want to do - and help you do it. There are also youth workers who can help you get info and advice on anything you need to know about and are generally up for a chat. They can also help you get certificates such as National Youth Achievement Awards or Arts Awards – either for the music you make or for other projects. Call the Basement (0117) 934 9013 for more info – or just turn up. We’re at the Unicorns, Colston Street (next to Colston Hall), on Tues and Thurs eves, 7.30-10pm. When you’re standing in front of Colston Hall there’s an archway directly to the right. Walk through there, make for the double brown doors (next to the bins) – through them and downstairs to the Unicorns.

For more info please contact us on 0117 934 9013 or email us info(at)basementstudio.co.uk.
