Tim Farren stands out from the new wave of talent in Australian country music because he has that rare ability to capture a live audience simply through his presence and leave a lasting impression with a song. It’s a magic quality. His audiences love it, and it keeps them coming back.
The Victorian-based singer-songwriter sells a song with absolute sincerity, as he proved during the final of the 2006 Toyota Star Maker Concert when the performance of his own tune, 'Till I Found You', was the highlight of the night.
‘Knowing an audience is enjoying my performance as much as I am is what really matters to me,’ says Tim.
Tim’s career in Country Music continues to grow. His dedication to his craft and commitment to building his career have seen him travel thousands of kilometers to sing and play wherever there was an opportunity, as a solo act or with his band.
And the hard work is paying off.
Tim’s independently produced album, ‘Seasons Of Change’, saw him awarded the ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’ at the Victorian Country Music Awards. Invitations to perform at many country music festivals followed immediately, among them, the Wandong Country Music Festival , Kingston Harvest Festival, The Wood, Wine and Roses Festival in Western Vic, and
the 2006 Mud, Bulls and Music Festival in Queensland… to name a few.
Further recognition of his talent came when Tim was among the 21 selected from 100 candidates to attend the 2006 CMAA Australian College of Country Music, and then two nights later knocked them out at the Star Maker Grand Final. Tim, then proved his talent again at the 2007 Toyota Star Maker quest, securing a spot in the Top 20 and earning a spot in the Top 6.
‘I think Tim Farren will make it in Country Music,’ says veteran performer Jim Haynes, ‘he has that indefinable original quality which sets him apart from the rest. And he knows what it takes to succeed and is willing to do the hard yards.’
The next goal is a new CD. New sounds and new songs, many written in collaboration with some of the country’s best songwriters.
There are few certainties in the music business but success for Tim Farren seems assured. That little bit of magic helps immeasurably.
