Tim Garland is currently receiving rave reviews for his double CD Libra. His life long search for a dynamic balance between jazz and new written music has created ground-breaking and captivating work.
First gaining international recognition through working with Chick Corea, the British saxophonist has produced an impressive catalogue of works for the likes of the RPO, the LSO, the Northern Sinfonia, BBC Concert Orchestra, as well as a startling set with his band the Lighthouse Trio, and other pieces for big band, and Acoustic Triangle. 2009 sees his trio performing internationally for the first time.
“There is no one who can more convincingly unite the jazz and European classical idioms. Garland’s sheer virtuosity is breathtaking” - The Observer
"...not only a commanding saxophonist but a brilliantly inventive writer"
The Independent

Hi Tim, how are you doing? It's been a while! I see you're touring with the Northern Underground, wish I could have seen that. I've actually just joined the Swingle Singers, so that's taking most of my time these days, but it means I get to sing, scat and write, so I'm happy!
Awesome gig last night (Turner Sims)- I would love to be able to arrange like that! Thanks for the great workshop too - you gave the kids loads to take away and think about and more inspirational playing from both of you. Hope to see you the next time you're down. I'd be interested in your opinion of my Big Band arrangement of 'Night and Day' on my myspace if you have the time. Cheers Jo

Great work Tim. You may remember me from the audition at the Sage for the National Youth Jazz Summer School. I was also in front row when I saw you perform with Chick Corea/Gary Burton in July which was an amazing encore at the end! If the NYJSS goes ahead next year I'll try again for it and I'll also be seeing you at Sage again with the Northern Underground Orchestra. Catch you later
