"Tim Gaze is and always has been one of the best guitarists that Australia has ever produced. I remember seeing him in the early days with the boys from Cold Chisel and we were all blown away with his taste and feel. Years later I was lucky enough to get to play with him in John Lord's band. We became friends again and I immediately asked him to join my band. We have worked together on and off ever since. He is a great player and a great friend of mine. I cannot speak highly enough of him, he is one of nature's true gentlemen. But not only that he can make his guitar sing like an angel and scream like the devil. He is truly gifted."

About Tim
I was into surfing and guitar while growing up around Manly Beach NSW, also Waverton, Kirribilli, Freshwater, Queenscliff and Newport Beach (we moved around a lot)
I started playing in 1966 – listening to bands like The Animals, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, The Who and other current bands of that era while still at school. My Dad had a great record collection of jazz and blues artists mainly from the US. I also got into blues by way of Eric Clapton through John Mayall and then US – also a lot of Led Zeppelin, and a little Deep Purple etc. My first pro band was Tamam Shud when I was 16.
The Shud was great because it was totally creative and exploratory, with the surfing lifestyle and the people as it’s guide, and all things ideal.
That was the beginning of my love affair with music and surf – two most compatible forms both involving movement and emotion. Always wanted to write and was fascinated by the art of recording – still am.
Through the years I have been a hired guitarist for a lot of performing artists both in Australia and overseas, as well as doing my own bands and recording projects. I have been enjoying more frequent visits to surf music since 2000, teaming up with people like Andrew Kidman and getting back to spontaneous expression with film.
I am also focussing more on playing live these days as well – essentially, this was the reason to be playing in the first place, so bring it on. The other stuff comes and goes, but playing live is the real spontaneous expression to me
My playing and writing styles vary across the spectrum from electric blues to acoustic eclectic. I have several recording projects underway at present and also teach guitar at a college.
