The crusaders, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, The Doors, Led Zepplin, Rush, Roy Ayers, Lil Louis, Boo Williams, Glenn Underground, Masters at Work, my daughters Kaitlyn and Nyah.
The year was 89 in the summer when I met Glenn Underground at a house party in the hood. I was playing coming on strong but it was a repress. He pulled out the original and we cllicked from there. He had keyboards and we both had basic drum machines. We started tracking that same year. I went away to Tennessee State University after high school and was in Nashville for 2 and 1/2 years. When I returned home me and Glenn picked right up where we left off. One day Glenn came by my house and said, "lets go over Boo Williams house." I didn't know that Boo lived four blocks from my house. So we all hooked up and Strictly Jazz Unit was formed. My first release was on Dance Mania called Toxic Waste. The pressing was horrible but I was glad just to have a record come out. Then I got my feet wet overseas with two releases on djax out of holland. After the Djax releases I put out an ep on Paul Johnsons label called Power Records. The release was titled Broadway and it was a jazz tune that I loved by Cannonball Adderly. During the mid 90's we all hooked up with Cajual/Relief/Daisy. I had two releases on Relief, Enter the dragon and Return of the dragon. Me and Boo did a remix on Glenn's " Can't Stop The Feeling." Glenn, Paul Johnson and myself teamed up to do the "Disco Thieves Ep." Then I released the "The Redhead Ep" which was titled "Love." I took my sounds overseas again and I released "I Feel A Groove" on Peacefrog. Then Glenn released an SJU album on Defender with myself and Boo contributing tracks to the album along with Brian Harden. In 98 I released an ep on Nitelife Collective titled "Reincarnation." Mike Saxon RIP and Glenn through down a live studio set while recording it was real groovy. I've had quite a few tracks licensed on labels all over the world. Currently I have been working on new music and I hope to be releasing it soon. Big shouts to my crew Glenn Underground and Boo Williams Putting in serious work like they always do. I will be back.
