High Five New York

Video documentation of a performance piece by my friend Nate Kassel who rode around on his bike slapping high-fives to people who were trying to hail taxi cabs in NYC. Enjoy!

Tim--

Been a while since we corresponded. I hope you're well and 2008 has started positively for you...

Given our prior aesthetics conversations, I thought I'd inquire/comment on a couple of topics. Have you any interest in the new Vollmann book, "Riding Toward Everywhere"? Surprisingly concise and despite WTV's trickbag of po-mo authorial interruptions and nonlinearity, it manages to make a strong emotional dent. Worth a look see...

I also see you are a David Lynch fan; I've JUST finally gotten around to watching 'Inland Empire'--where does this rank for you in the director's oeuvre? Reading a bit of Lacan helps, yes?

Take care--

Double thanks, Tim! I will definitely include those...
One of my Myspace pals mentioned 'robot love' as an idea for the class and turns out there's a new book by David Levy called
'Love and Sex w/Robots'...A must-read, methinks! Not really a non-sequitor as much as it seems, but are you on Sexnet?
Oh--also, did you know that the 2nd annual NEEPS conference will be held in your neck of woods? Maybe you should go...or better yet, present...
Will write more later about it...

You missed Jim Shepard at RiverRun!

I've been reading "St. Lucy's Home For Girls Raised by Wolves" by Karen Russell. She was only 25 when it was published. I love the supernatural elements. Have you read it?

Scratch my earlier recommendation on Arsonist's Guide...I ended up not really liking the book that much.
