  • Bio

Tim is a singer, songwriter and guitarist originally from Adelaide, South Australia. He played in a series of garage bands through the eighties and nineties including Death Valley P.T.A., Electric Sunshine, The Scribes and The Watershed. Tim co-founded Colourwheel in 1991 and the band went on to play 123 gigs, including The Big Day Out and supports for Ed Kuepper and The Stone Roses. In 1994, Colourwheel released their debut CD Junkyard to critical acclaim, extensive local airplay and national airplay on Triple J. Tim was nominated for Songwriter of the Year in the South Australian Music Industry Awards for the songs he contributed to Junkyard. In 1997, the band released their second self-financed CD 4 Speed Overdrive. Once again Colourwheel enjoyed great reviews and extensive airplay. Colourwheel disbanded in late 1997. A year later Tim formed a new band called Goldentone. The band has released eight CDs in the form of seven EPs and a 24-track double album. The Sunset Trilogy received rave reviews and introduced Goldentone to local radio. It consisted of Demo CD number one, Demo CD number two and Demo CD number three. The Landscape Trilogy also enjoyed critical acclaim and enabled Goldentone to break into radio networks interstate and overseas. It consisted of Live to Air, Live on Radio and Live at UV. The best songs from these two trilogies, together with new material, were re-mastered and re-released on 24-track double album called Honey Coloured Sky and the Blood Red Earth. The band's most recent release was a seven-track EP called Skeletons. The CD received critical acclaim, airplay all over Australia and significant airplay in New Zealand. It is available in Australia from Pure Pop Records in Melbourne, Big Star Records and Clarity Records in Adelaide, Rediscovery CDs in Ballarat, 78 Records in Perth, Rocking Horse Records in Brisbane, Bourkes Music in Castlemaine and online from Half A Cow Records in Sydney. It is available in New Zealand from Records Records in Dunedin, Galaxy Records in Christchurch, Real Groovy Records in Auckland and Play it Again - all stores. It is also available by post - just send a myspace message to this site for details. Goldentone are now working on their next offering called The Little Desert. Goldentone has performed over 100 times. Live performance highlights include supports for legendary Australian acts Ed Kuepper, The Go-Betweens, The Church and Dave Graney. The band has played in Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Ballarat and many other towns in Australia as well as Christchurch in New Zealand. Tim has played around 325 shows, ranging from small front bar gigs to supports for international touring acts in major venues. He has written over 100 songs and released 13 self-financed CDs. Tim is currently based in Victoria where he continues to write prodigiously and perform both as a solo act, with his band Goldentone and in a side project called The Low-Fi Cowboys.

    Hello!!!
It's been awhile - sorry there hasn't been in any Australian shows for many months but we've been busy in Europe with a bunch of touring and we're now recording our new album in Berlin (scheduled for release in March). But to make up for it, here's a big (and silly) Merry Christmas from us (and from some hippos too) :

Some bold new artistic direction? Nah, Just us being silly!!! We did this track for our label's "Black Snow - the completely different Xmas compilation". (and of course, visit our youtube channel for a high quality version)

Wishing you a very silly Silly Season and we'll see you back in Australia sometime in 2010!
