Discovered in 2003 with his DJ residency at Rex for the BPitch Control evenings, Timid Boy (Damien Almira) quickly established itself as a great value of the Paris's scene. Booked with the best Dj's (Jeff Mills, Ellen Allien, Booka Shade, Tiga, The Hacker, Sascha Funke, Roman Flügel, DJ Hell, Supermayer, Francois K, Paul Kalkbrenner…), the French evolves between a house minimal and dynamic, and a techno deep and hypnotic.
Producer in sight, he released in March 2009 his firsts tracks with the “Split EP” on Time Has Changed and “Where is the Bang Bang EP” on 4line Records (big supported by Loco Dice, Dubfire, Livio & Roby, Chloé, Danton Eeprom, Masomenos, Julien Chaptal, Djul’z, Seuil, Rone, Sei A, Milton Jackson, Peter Kruder…).
In april, his 12’ « La Nuit » was a new step for Timid (played by Richie Hawtin, this record was also no 1 in Miss Jools’s charts), and his Acumen « Circle »’s remix confirmed that his musical begins were not timid at all (his remix was played and charted by Thomas Schumacher, Nima Gorji, Dan Ghenacia…).
In summer, autumn and winter 2009, Timid will have releases on Barraca Music (the label of the famous Valencia’s club, big with productions by Villalobos, Luciano, Radio Slave…), Isgud Records (label of Tania Vulcano & Tatto from DC 10), Percusa (young new label from Mannheim), Monique Musique in Canada and Time Has Changed.
Timid Boy aka Damien Almira is also a well-known French journalist (he worked for the famous magazines like Rock&Folk, Technikart…) and he’s the second Chief Editor of Trax, the leader of electronic french press.
