I have been playing guitar for 25 years. Styles include, not in order of preference,..classical, jazz, ambient, fusion, flamenco, rock, folk, fingerstyle, ethnic, funk, pop, country (progressive, old school, Hellecaster-style, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard to almost present). I just love to play.
Guitarsenal includes 1958 Gretsch Country Club, custom built strat, G&L Asat Special with b-bender, Montalvo hand-made flamenco, Schoenberg acoustic (rare-one of two made!), Parker Fly (sweet), Gibson Chet Atkins solid body acoustic - Celebrity series (collector's), Godin Multiac (synth guitar - nylon string), others..
I also play some piano, bansuri and shakuhachi (bamboo flutes), sitar, percussion, didjeridoo, mandolin, banjo, ukelele, ...more... and have even been known to sing!
I have taught guitar and basic applied music theory off and on for many years. I currently have a regular day job in the IT industry. (Yes, computer geek.)
Live experience, from the beginning...
Rock bands, high school and college jazz ensemble (scholarship), pop bands, country, folk, acoustic/classical solo work, duet/trio groups. Guitar player for Elvis impersonator band. Member of world beat band Orangutango. Played country circuit with Mark Winston Kirk, John Bell, Debra Peters and the Love Saints (I was a Love Saint!). I got to play with some of the best musicians in the country...Erik Hokkanen, Danny Levin, Rick McRae (George Strait's gtrst), opened for Lori Morgan, played for Stoney Edwards. Played/recorded several years with Ishwara(Jody Lazo - she sang on Eric Johnson's grammy winning cd). Sat in with Mike Cross, Marty Rigby, Doug Anthony, Blue Mist, Second Generation, others. Played at Ararat and the old Ruta Maya for belly dancer, Jacqueline. Have played weddings, funerals, wakes. Sometimes play background music for yoga classes (flutes, synth guitar, nylon str guitar and sitar).
My interests now include electronica, house, ambient, trance (I really don't know the difference but I love it all), performance art, multimedia, Mutaytor, Antony, Kitaro, Mass Ensemble, anything fused with ethnic sounds. Ben Harper, Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckley, Kahki King, Sade (Sweetest Gift is my fav), Gypsy Kings, Adrian Legg.
