"One day perhaps we shall find an ideal music which will be neither popular nor classical, highbrow or lowbrow, but an art in which all can take part" - Ralph Vaughan Williams
The music of Tim Kliphuis blends Gypsy Jazz, Classical and Folk into a "swingy, zingy mix" (The Herald) that crosses boundaries, is fresh and new yet appeals to all. Tim’s "funky slurs, whooping hoedown flourishes" (Time Out), "elegant tone and carefree spirit" (Scotsman) have charmed audiences around the world.
Dutchman Tim Kliphuis ranks among the world's finest fiddlers. He has often been named the successor of Stéphane Grappelli, taking his legacy into the 21st Century.
Tim's first international recognition came after he joined Belgian gypsy guitarist Fapy Lafertin in 1999. Since then, he has performed with a.o. Martin Taylor, Bob Wilber, Les Paul, Frankie Gavin, Bucky Pizzarelli, Angelo Debarre, Stochelo Rosenberg and Richard Galliano. Tim appears at venues ranging from jazz clubs to classical concert halls: North Sea and Edinburgh Jazz, Baltimore FiddleFair, Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Richard Strauss Festival.
Tim also hosts workshops around the globe and has a great number of international students. He teaches string improvisation at the Amsterdam and Tilburg Conservatoires and was featured in Fiddler Magazine.

“Tim Kliphuis is perhaps the greatest living exponent of the Stéphane Grappelli violin style and this book will surely be a necessary learning tool for all students of the Hot Club of France and its magical music.”
