Peter Gabriel, The Cure, Seal, Tears for Fears, Ron Sexsmith, Daniel Lanois, Randy Kerkman, so many others...
Sounds Like
I get a lot of emails with "kinda reminds me of" comments mentioning Tears for Fears, Bryan Ferry (Roxy Music), Simple Minds, Peter Gabriel, and for some reason unknown to me, a dozen people have said David Bowie. This is great company, love all these artists. Do I really sound like them? I don't know, but if you dig "adult alternative", give it a listen.
Tim McAllister first appeared in the eighties as the songwriter, singer and guitarist of Flock 14 and World Theatre.
Flock 14's frantic stage shows gained them a large following in their hometown, leading to three record offers. They signed with Blue Collar (Undercover, Adam Again) but the record company folded before releasing the album. Tim met executives from Graceland records while playing at the Cornerstone festival in Chicago, and the Brave New World? record was released with success scoring a Top 10 hit on the CCM rock charts with Your Eyes.
Tim started a new project he dubbed World Theatre. It was a bigger sound, moody and introspective (once referred to as a "less angry" Mike Knott). He invited his friend Linford Detweiler of Over the Rhine to work on the album which included appearances by Jimmy Abegg (Vector, Charlie Peacock), and Gary Egger (Human Condition) and was mixed by Gene Eugene (Adam Again).
After his sister was killed by a great white shark, and a friend died from AIDs, Tim left the public limelight. He returned only to work behind the scenes with a few bands, most notably the first two Over the Rhine albums. While he continued to write and record, he didn't release any of it publicly.

Strong Tower
I create music and words to work through my own struggles of straddling heaven and earth. I am both confused and certain. I am both melancholic and mad. These dichotomies define who I am. They also define my music. Despite, or perhaps because of this, I know many of you find a strange type of hope in the music. The phone calls, emails, and the shoe boxes of letters I've received over the years are testimony. Perhaps you and I can share this together.
Strong Tower is manic depressive adult alternative rock...
McAllister is joined by Sandin Wilson (Quarterflash, NuShooz) on bass and Bob Sable on drums. Linford Detweiler plays piano on Twenty.
Thanks for the kind comment and the add! Do you have any concerts coming up in Arizona? (I should just check your schedule first before asking, huh...)
Good to run into you too, Mr. McAllister ;-) Check out my blog titled "My Embattled CD Project"... there's live streaming of the rough demos from SC. I've been looking for a producer who's interested in helping me get this in back of me.
Well thank you. The CD isn't likely to be finished till early next year. Hopefully something like February. However, you'll be among the very first to get it.
I doubt you could fathom how excited I became when I realized who you were. The name sounded so familiar, but I couldn't place it. Anyway point is, I have been a long time fan of World Theatre ever since 1990. I bought The Swoon and The Violet Burning's Chosen first. Then I bought Undercover's Balance of Power and World Theatre on a whim. I got home that day and fell in love with your music. I read the liner notes and lyrics so often that I can't play the Jaws Playstation 2 game because I feel guilty. I like your Flock 14 stuff particularly Panic and Disposable People. In fact, I just downloaded Brave New World? off Soulseek the other day--hey, I bought it on vinyl. I love what I'm hearing from your new stuff. I look forward to receiving my copy as soon as I can order it. Give me another month, and you'll see my money.

Woo hoo! I get to be your first comment! Well, right now I wish Randy's computer had speakers because he is using mine and I can't hear your songs (YET). So glad you are releasing that good stuff.
