:::: Wonderlust Bug - The REMIXES - PRESS RELEASE ::::
Timo Garcia - Berwick Street Records boss - commendably soldiers on in the fight for the limelight that is the nature of running an independent label with this, the release of his debut artist album Wonderlust Bug as remixed by a range of talents from a whole bag full of genres.
The original LP was a well-produced journey through techy, proggy house and drew on Timo's experiences of travelling the world. It also introduced the world to the Hang Drum (a sonorous, deep, bell-like instrument) and Manu Delago (a skilled player of said drum) and was as much for home as it was for club listening. This remix edition, though, is decidedly more dance floor orientated once Timo’s album opening, sun kissed reinterpretation of The Hang Drum track has blissfully floated by having dumped you in Balearic heaven.
After that comes a peak time, pumping ‘Wonderlust [Free Your Mind]’ re-rub by Shifter & Carvell which ebbs and flows from spiralling synth breakdowns to driving, tech edged house, all with an ethereal vocal from Amber Jolene floating up top. Also included is a retro slice of house courtesy of NYC’s DJ Onionz who turns ‘Boom’ into a percolating track which builds and builds with twisted synths until it bubbles over into a deep, spacey jaunt; a spare, trippy 4/4 cut ‘Wonderlust’ from James Harcourt which is as much for head as it is heel and even a slice of piano led deebee from Jenkinsound who take the swing theme of ‘Swing Thing’ and run it through a fuzzy, future filter, this time featuring Sam Obernik on vocals.
The second disc offers more straight up house with micro-funky and dainty melodies (Amber’s vocals on ‘Magic Roundabout’); swaggering, deep tech-house (‘Wonderlust’ (Justin Harris Singapore remix)); chunky, shuffling grooves in the form of ‘Swing Thing’ (Demarkus Lewis remix); prickling acid from DJ Pierre on ‘Boom;’ broken beats on ‘The Morning After ‘(Instrumental Beats mix) and what is arguably the highlight – a moody, salt shaker sprinkled slice of dark underground tech from the Jet Project’s Timmy Stuart.
All in all another solid release for Timo, and one which offers so much to so many: any DJs out there should add this to their want lists immediately – it’s full of killer tracks which could ignite many a varied dance floor.

Eric Kupper mix is outstanding, as expected. Tons of flow and quite expansive. I also really like Timo's Balearica Mix. This is a good candidate for next month's radio show. Also liking the mixes by Justin Harris, James Harcourt, and the lovely Shifter & Carvell mix. Nice package overall ... cheers for it.
