Primarily me, assisted by a nefarious mob of musicians trying to stay one step ahead of the IRS and Jealous Husbands.
Influences
Shane McGowan, Richard Thompson, Neil Young, Steve Goodman, John Prine, Ian Anderson. I love songs that tell stories in the Jim Croce and Harry Chapin mode. Traditional Irish ballads, classic rock - my favorite bands include Jethro Tull, The Who, and ELP.
I have no idea what "Hyphy" and "Zouk" music is, but when I was perusing my three choices from the drop down menu, I found them to be such phonetically delightful words, I decided to be defined by them. "Melodramatic Popular Song" was just too obvious to pass up, of course.
I'm an Irish pub singer making the transition to the singer-songwriter-indie-pop-folk-rock-country genre. Smart, literate lyrics - alternately funny and weepy. There's nothing I enjoy more than the emotional manipulation of a paying audience.
I am now in the studio recording a CD of original music! I couldn't be more excited. You should also be excited. Songs will be posted as soon as some non-embarrassing version them is available.
Sounds great - thank you for finding me, and I hope to keep in touch. Maybe you would like to come out on Jan 25 to see the show at Iota- it's going to be a great night with Jupiter One and Juniper Lane as well....
hey tim. nice meeting you in charlotte. hope you survived your trip without your guitar. i really dug both songs. other artists that came to mind not on your list of influences: the late great kevin coyne, and master lyricist nick lowe.
I totally keep meeting people while I'm wasted at bars, who know you! I was at Bushwaller's in Frederick and met a singer who knew you! It was so much fun, he was pretty good. Hope all is well!
Hey!!! Happy Holidays to you too! Just (and I mean JUST) got back to the US. Spent New Year's in Ireland... thinking of you the whole time, of course! I definitely have to give you a call. This weekend?
I swear I've seen you around town. Arlington artists represent! You got way more talent than us, I'm so ashamed. I couldn't strum a guitar and sing at the same time if my life depended on it. Keep it up friend, and keep sharing your skills.
