   About Timothy Davey
Timothy has been playing piano for 37 years, 27 of them in public. He has worked as a solo performer and in a multitude of bands in Adelaide, South Australia where he is a much sought-after keyboard player.

His interest in solo piano he credits to hearing solo guitarist Leo Kottke in his teens. He has also admired the style of other solo guitarists including Dan Crary and Doc Watson.

Timothy’s favourite style of music, he says, is jazz-bluegrass or Newgrass music. Among keyboard players he admires but has no intention of trying to emulate are Fats Waller, Chick Corea, Philip Aaberg and among other musicians Mike Marshall, Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer.

In 2001, he independently released Uncovered Keys, a CD of original piano solos, which has been favourably reviewed by Indie Music Review, Solo Piano Publications, Wind and Wire, The Instrumental Weekly and Alternate Music Press. Timothy’s music has been described as non-pedestrian, challenging, a sub-genre, brimming with creativity, highly accessible, refreshing & awe-inspiring and having a casual elegance.

His music is borne from the delicate combination of extraordinary musicianship and a deep, intuitive sense of composition.

In 2005, he released his second collection of original piano solos, Scenes from the Neighbourhood, which also received amazing reviews by Solo Piano Publications, Wind and Wire, Alternate Music Press, Indie Music Review and New Age Reporter. The CD includes a bonus CD-ROM video track, of ’Before I Knew’, a duet with violinist Loretta Mongelli which can be seen below as a YouTube video. Video production is by Jon Burke from Creative Digital Video and audio recording by Neville Clark from Disk Edits.

Timothy is currently working on his third CD, ’The Weight of Time’.

For further information about Timothy’s music, see http://www.timothydavey.com.

Timothy’s CDs, Uncovered Keys and Scenes from the Neighbourhood are available at http://www.cdbaby.com and he has several Sheet Music selections available at http://www.lulu.com.

Hey Timothy!

Hope all is well with you! In an instant of impulsive insanity, I decided to post one of my few rare vocals that I recorded just for family and a few friends. It's getting some favorable feedback so I figured I would throw caution to the wind and invite you to listen too. Don't worry, I will be keeping my day job. It will give you insight into the reason why some of my compositions do play like "songs"...because they actually are! The vocal is the original lyrics to "All I See Is Air" which I composed back in 1977 at the age of 16, due to a case of unrequited love (sob!).

It's the first selection at my Myspace site. Hop on over and listen! It should play automatically, unless Myspace is having one of its technofits.

Enjoy! (I hope)

Hey,Mr.Tim
Keep up the great work. I can tell in your playin that you work hard. It has gotten you far.
I have a chorus concert at Kings Dominion on Saturday. I haven't practiced on the song that much so I'll be sight reading.( Alot of people tell me that I'm a great sight reader). But you are great. I've composed a few songs myself. And If you give me your e-mail address I could send you some of my midis.
N-e-way the way you play has inspired me to try diffrent styles and things.
!!!So Keep up the great work!!!
