Music has been my life… I love to sing and I don’t know what a day in my life would be without a song. At age 3, I recalled standing alongside my father while he performed quartet style gospel music pretending to play the guitar with a paper fan. I never learned how to play the guitar, but singing has guided the course of my life for the last 30+ years.
This recording is a small reflection of the varied influences of musical styles I have been privileged to learn. I started singing publicly at 14 with my brother (Edward J.) gospel quartet… “The Singing Angels.” Thank you guys for teaching me to sing and beginning my musical training. I spent four year in college studying voice; opera, Broadway musicals, and drama. After college, I entered the military joining the Air Force Band as a vocalist for 21 years. In 983, I gave my life to the Lord and began a new journey of leading worship. After retiring from the military in 2003, I became the Minister of Music at Harvest Cathedral in Macon, GA where I continue to lead worship and produced this project.
I love Jesus! I love to find the sweet fragrance of His presence in worship. Thank you to my heavenly father for giving me the gift of this voice and the talents you have blessed me with over the years. If not for your grace, where would I be? I give all the glory and honor of my life to you always and forever. You continue to amaze me daily!
This is not your typical worship CD that you will find songs to sing in your corporate worship services. However, I hope you will find the presence of God expressed in these songs to bring you into an encounter with truth, forgiveness, mercy, love, hope, peace, rejoicing and of hopefully… worship! My pastor and friend Steve Sawyer, says worship is our response to God. That being the case, as you listen and allow the Spirit of God to minister to you through this music, just release your heart and mind to respond to the heart of God and you will find His presence in the songs.
I want to thank all the musicians and singers who performed on this project. Your talents and musical contributions made this endeavor worth it all. To my keyboard teacher, Rev Nat, thank you for encouraging me to take on this journey. Your friendship and musical instruction has opened my ears to a new dimension of sound. Those five ladies (Tanzy, Tricia, Debra, Michele, and Cyndi) you hear singing the background vocals are all gifted soloists in their own right. I hope I have the opportunity to return the favor of singing on your recordings in the future. You ladies really sounded great! I want to thank my Harvest Cathedral Choir and Band for all their love and constant encouragement for me to do this project. I love all of you. To the pastoral and administrative staff, members, friends, and visitors of my “great” church, thank you for being the best team to work and serve alongside in the Kingdom of God. Thank you Bishop Sam and Rheba for you love guided counsel over the years. Pastor Steve and Debbie, I love you and I thank God for putting our lives together.
Finally, to the most beautiful woman in the world, my wife and sweetheart Bertha. Thank you for putting up with all my stuff. You have stood the test of time for the past 25 years of my life. Thank you for loving me with a passionate, relentless, and unending love. You are truly the love of my heart and I will always love you. To big Dee and little Dee… I love you. Donnell… you are a gifted artist! You are my son forever.
I dedicate this CD to the loving memory of my father and mother, James and Rosie Fountain.
Hey Tim, Hey Bertha! Thanks for adding me. Rickey and Jackei say "hey" from Bossier City, LA. Glad to hear you are still proclaiming Jesus in music!!!!
