Timothy Hayward was born (1982) and raised in Paris. He is a graduate of the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris-CNR (1er Prix, Classical Saxophone, 2001) of the Université de Paris-Paris 8 (Licence de Musicologie, 2004) and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (1er Prix, Jazz, 2007).
He began playing professionally at the age of 18 in classical and contemporary music, including repertoire for ballet and theater, as well as with jazz ensembles (Sarah Morrow Quintet, Raymond Boni project, Spirit of Life Ensemble, Mamdouh Bahri Quintet, Bob Ferrel Sextet…). He has been regularly invited as a soloist to participate in projects piloted by the Maison des Métallos, the new Parisian cultural center, which have offered numerous opportunities to explore unusual repertories such as medieval and baroque European music, Turkish, Yemenite and Malian traditional music, amongst others. These activities have led him to perform in festivals in France and abroad.
He has created his own groups: the Timothy Hayward Trio, the Timothy Hayward A cappella Project (an a cappella vocal ensemble), and the Timothy Hayward Quartet. These groups perform Timothy Hayward’s personal compositions. These groups perform regularly in the Paris region.
Timothy Hayward is an active composer and arranger both in the classical and jazz domains: he has written works for a cappella choir, solo saxophone, for solo instrument and piano, and for Big Band….
Timothy Hayward has continuously demonstrated an exceptional maturity both in his performance and compositional skills. His dual orientation, classical music and jazz, and his bi-cultural origin, French and American, have allowed him to develop a personal and unique approach to his playing and to his musical composition.
I saw ur on line, so I stopped by to show ur love. I still go the Music Union thing and I met a great piano player. I actually had a chance to play with him lately. He said that he liked my feel on drums. I might start rehearsal with him with his music. He is one of Monster player, so I'm sooo exiting !!!
