At the 2009 Isle of Bute Jazz Festival we welcome Jonny Boston (see his MySpace page) on tenor sax.
Influences
Jimmy Smith, Joey de Francesco, Tony Monaco, Oscar Peterson. Mainstream swing standards, Dave Brubeck, jazz standards with good melodic and harmonic structures.
The trio was formed in 2005. We also play in a local trad band with Phil Mason (of All Stars fame). We are available for bookings for your party, wedding, etc. PLease contact us by sending a message! Have a look at our slide show below showing some pictures of our gigs. Norman King (tenor sax), who is presently working in Thailand, is a regular guest with the trio during his UK visits.
Paul McKay plays fretless 5 string Yamaha bass guitar and uses Ashdown bass amplifiaction. He has recent acquired a new Superfly amplifier which is alleged to prevent hernias, but we have yet to see the results..................
Tim Saul plays Roland digital pianos. The current favourite is a much used (and very heavy) RD150 model with Roland KC amplifier and a new addition, a Hammond XK-1 drawbar organ which feature on the audio tracks on this page. Tim also teaches jazz theory, guitar and bass guitar at the local Rothesay Academy and is also a part-time tutor on the Argyll College NC music course together with Paul Templeman and Sam Tweedlie (of AcousticRat, who have their own MySpace page).
David Gray plays kit drums and also appears with the Phil Mason Jazz Friends with Tim & Paul on thewir monthly Trad jazz extravaganza at The Argyll Arms in Rothesay.
We now a have a fourth member of the band. Caroline Gorman has joined as our new vocalist and specialises in the songs of Billie Holiday. Caroline appeared with the trio at the Isle of Bute JAzz Festival in May 2008 and won a great reception from the audience.

Hi Tim. Yes, I'm looking forward to our big reunion at end of April. Maybe we should play a funky version of Sheik Of Araby for Isa bin Salman Al Kalifa! JB
