Tinsmith is a high-energy folk band playing traditional music of Ireland, Scotland and Appalachia. Citing influences from blues to bluegrass, from funk to jazz to mountain music, they bring traditional songs and tunes into the new century. Known for their fun and energetic performances and for the taste and delicacy of their arrangements, Tinsmith has been making audiences dance since 1997. They are three-time invitees at the North Texas Irish Festival in Dallas, Tx, and have played such prestigious gigs as The Barns at Wolf Trap Park for the Performing Arts, Potomac Celtic Festival, The Institute of Musical Traditions and Blackrock Center for the Performing Arts. Tinsmith has also been invited to perform at the National Folk Alliance Convention and has numerous WAMMIE awards to its credit.
Led by core members, multi-talented Rowan Corbett (guitar, bouzouki, bones, djembe) and WAMMIE-winning vocalist Brooke Parkhurst (banjo, Irish flue, tinwhistles), the group also includes superb bassist Henry Cross and their talented, WAMMIE-winning guitar and mandolin virtuoso, Avril Smith.
OMG! Hey gang! Just an update, Jimmy (yes, little jimmy) is in the Marine Corps stationed in Afghanistan. I'm out in West GA and enjoying the single life. Looking forward to seeing y'all soon. When will you be down this way?
Hey! You guys were awesome on Friday night and thanks for playing the little Black Fox again for me, tis my favoritist song...guess I'll forgive you for the time slip-up then :) Looking forward to whenever I'll get to see you guys again, but it's nice to know I have the full collection to listen to in the meantime :)
Your performance at the Old Brogue tonight was just perfection! You all sounded wonderful. I listened to my new CD (the downside of managing a festival is not being unable to walk around and buy CD's!!) all the way home- I love it. So glad to hear that you'll honor us with an appearance at PCF in 2008! Thank you and cheers to the entire Tinsmith family.
Loved your show at Potomac Celtic Festival. Next time I'll hear you guys from the audience instead of from backstage. Old Brogue is in my neighborhood. Catch you there!
Thanks for the add. I loved getting to hear so much of your band at Folk Alliance this year - you rock! Let me know if you ever end up in Nashville and need a place to crash... I owe you one :)
