I'm not sure how this all happened. My kids got me listening to Hip-Hop some time in the early 90's, so this is really all thier fault. And seeing as I've always fancied myself a poet it seemed fairly natural, (to me anyway), that I ended up with a small repertoire of rhymes that I would spit for the guys I was working with at the time. And as one thing inevitably leads to another, at some point I ended up at a karaoke bar and, well, my ego kind of took over from there.
When I returned to Detroit sometime around 05-06, after a 12 year absence, I very quickly became the Motowns own Clown Prince of Karaoke. Things being as they are it was'nt an easy thing for a middle aged, first generation hillbilly suburbanite, to locate, much less participate in the Detroit Hip-Hop scene. Even so, I dared myself to and I did it. And anyone who was making the rounds of the open mike circuit at the time knows what happened. And it's still happening, pretty much every time I get my hands on a mic. I'm not going to pretend I've rocked every crowd I've been in front of but the fact of the matter is I'm batting somewhere around 800. and I'm still scared to death every time I pick up a mike.
The people who know me best know very well that I have a hard time taking myself seriously. I'm well aware of who and what and where I am, and the kind odds I'm playing against, but I'd be hard pressed to tell you why. It's the love of the game. It's the love that the game has shown me. It's the reaction of the fans and the artist it's been my privilege to meet and work with, that keep me hard at it.
I know this is a pretty piss poor excuse for a bio, but hey, I'm a 52 year old grave digger who jumped into all this head first just over four years ago, and I'm learning as I go. And I'm not really comfortable tooting my own horn, as the saying goes. I'd much rather try to get you to toot it for me.
Listen to the music.
Come see me in person.
I'm generally a pretty humble guy but I am just vain enough to believe that I've got a song or two that you are going to enjoy.
