Sit back, close your eyes, and let the music take you to the place where you can hear a "Gentle Whisper". The Native American flute, piano, and sounds of nature are woven together to help guide you on this journey.
T.J. MARLATT: Holy Night of Long Ago
A blend of Native American flute, piano, keyboards, and more to help you enjoy the holiday season.
My music career has been a long time coming. I started piano lessons at age 6, but quickly found myself on the ball field more than at the piano, and within a year, the lessons ended. Roughly 8 years went by, but at this time I began to realize I had been given a gift to play by ear.
I began to hear songs in movies, on the radio, etc., and could quickly "rough them out" on a little keyboard we had at the house. After a couple of years, I knew I was serious about wanting to play more music, and perhaps write some of my own. I received a keyboard shortly before heading off to college. Once there, I was introduced to the world of sequencers and synths, and soon found an outlet for the many songs, sounds, and musical ideas that had been trapped in my mind. It was also at this time I began my journey with the Native American flute.
Like so many folks, my first flute was an inexpensive, poorly made flute that was out of tune. However, I was unaware of this when I purchased it, and found myself getting frustrated with it from the beginning. I actually had put it away for quite a while, but got it out when I went to college because I knew it was to be a part of my music. I then realized that it wasn't me that was off (all of the time), but the flute itself. I purchased a slightly more expensive flute that I knew was in tune and began to play and practice almost daily. When I left college and began working, I then could afford several more flutes of an even higher quality and was really able to develop both skill and songs. And that has lead me to the next trail in my journey.
In 2005 I purchased my first (and second) flute from Michael Searching Bear. We immediately hit it off and have become very good friends as well as musical allies. The flutes featured on my two recordings are Searching Bear Flutes. Michael and I have been doing some concerts together over the past year and a half, and are picking up speed as we move along. We were honored to be one of the performing acts at Musical Echoes 2008. You can find me along with Michael and several other musicians on the Michael Searching Bear: Live in Concert DVD.
This is hopefully just the beginning of my musical journey. Thanks for taking the time to come along.

Thanks for your visit T.J..:) We have it both good and bad overseas, the good thing is that summer has been arriving, the bad thing is all new stupid laws that goverment and EU are creating that takes away lot of freedom for the people. I was listening your 2 newest songs, they are very fine compositions and your fluteplaing is so enjoyable. Keep the good work going, music is a way to peace!!! Take care of your family and yourself and... lots of love and light....E
