About me:
Hello, my name is T.J. Rohr, and I'm running for the 87th NC State House as a Libertarian. I am currently serving my second term as a Lenoir City Council member. I am against all government welfare for the benefit of corporations. As a Lenoir City Council member, I was the only local elected official to vote against the massive Google incentives. I will vote against the Broyhill payouts as well. While I am glad Google is here and Broyhill is staying, I believe the best way for government to attract people and be "business friendly" is to reduce taxes, spending, and regulations so that everyone is treated fairly and left to invest and spend their money the way they see fit. As my City Council slogan has been, "He Knows It's Your Money." I oppose involuntary annexation and will support every attempt to curtail, impose a moratorium, or eliminate forced annexation by cities, towns and villages. I was originally elected to the City Council in part because I was involuntarily annexed into the City of Lenoir. My neighbors and I fought the case all the way to the North Carolina Court of Appeals. I will continue the fight in the State House Chambers in Raleigh. I support a constitutional amendment to prevent the government from condemning your property and giving it to a big corporation to put a building on. It’s your land, and if you want to live there and not sell, that is your right as an American and a North Carolinian. As a practicing attorney with 14 years of experience in the criminal courts of North Carolina, I see every day how the power of the police has curtailed our individual right to be free of illegal searches and seizures. I will seek to roll back such violations of individual liberties, so as to allow us again to be safe in our persons and our property. Please visit my blog for more information regarding my platform, views, and the ways I'll represent Caldwell County, Gamewell, Granite Falls, Hudson, Lenoir, and Sawmills in Raleigh! 112 Winchester Drive Lenoir, NC 28645 phone: (828) 757-9632 e-mail: timothyjrohr@charter.net CHECK OUT MY WEBSITE AT ELECTTJROHR.COM AND OTHER BLOGS AT ELECTROHR.BLOGSPOT.COM

Thanks for your comments. I do appreciate the important role the police serve in our society. Unfortunately, however, legislation such as the PATRIOT ACT and numerous other laws have eroded our freedoms. As Ben Franklin said, "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." There is a balance, and currently the balance has swung too far away from our freedoms. I hope to restore the balance in Raleigh.

"I see every day how the power of the police has curtailed our individual right to be free of illegal searches and seizures. I will seek to roll back such violations of individual liberties, so as to allow us again to be safe in our persons and our property." After reading this on your page I wonder how do you expect to be safe in your persons or on your property without the police? I guess when you can handle everything and will never need to call them for assistance? What about our civil liberties that are taken away by the criminals who are arrested and then let back on the street by the judicial system? People like you in political roles are why police officers put their lives on the line everyday for low wages.. Their spend their days providing safety to the citizens of their community, only for politicians to use them as vote getters! What a way to say Thanks!!

Look at you with all of your friends on here. When you win the election I will gladly take all of the credit for getting your name out there on myspace even if you think you are "too old" to be on here.

Hello Mr. Rohr:

I'm especially glad your running because of your excellent stance on ballot access, though I may not necessarily agree with you on everything. Yet, I'm not in your district, JUST outside of it in District 84 (Phillip Frye). Again, I'm glad your running and really hope you win, and get Starnes out of office (he isn't too great on the ballot issue to say the LEAST.)

BTW, where do you stand on abortion and marriage?

For Liberty's Sake,
Jordon M. Greene

Thanks for adding the former Bryan Greene for US Congress campaign. We hope that all goes well with your campaign, and that your party will be able to maintain ballot access after the elections. We need to keep third parties on the ballot (as well as making it easier for them and unaffiliated candidates to gain ballot access). Thanks for running.
