Influences
The past. Visualisations of what the future might be like. And an ongoing attempt at experiencing the present.
(Photos by ziora.de) The various musical worlds Keyboardist, Composer and Singer-Songwriter T.L. Mazumdar travels in between are as extreme in their contrast as the cultural identity his life, one spent growing up in North-Africa, England, India and Germany has bestowed upon him.
T.L.'s musical journey is one that has blessed him with encounters with musical personalities who would rarely be seen sharing the same stage. And yet a firm believer in the philosophy that there are only two kinds of music, one that is authentic and comes from the heart and the rest, he has never been shy of exploring a vast palette of musical genres and cultures that often leave listeners a little confused about the words they should choose to describe his musical personality.
A professional musician since he was 17, T.L. grew up initially on an unconventional combination of Classic Pop, Rock, Latin and traditional Indian music. Before long, his hunger for newer horizons led him to leave a flourishing career as live and studio musician in Kolkata, India, to study Jazz and Popular music at the International Music College at Freiburg (Germany's offical Partner-school to Berklee College of Music, Boston) with
Jazz-Piano as his major. In 2007, he moved to Mannheim to take a second degree at the Pop-Akademie, Germany's elite university for Popmusic/Music Business. T.L. Mazumdar. Traveller. Musician. At home and out of place everywhere.
