The Men’s Club of Charlotte is a world renowned entertainment complex.Founded in 1996 as the fifth link in The Men’s Club growing chain, the Charlotte facility has a rich history. The actual building was originally a music hall in the 1950’s. It was dismantled and reconstructed in its current location at 444 Tyvola Road in the early 1970’s where it opened as“Plum Crazy”. This high-energy night club was the rage of Charlotte formany years and was famous for having a motorcycle hanging from the highest point of its 40’ domed ceiling. After the disco era faded so did the popularity of Plum Crazy and it eventually closed. The location then had a short revitalization as a country western dance hall. By the early 1990’s it was a building with a past but it didn’t look like it had much of a future. However that was not to be the case. Though disco had faded, the growth and social acceptance of upscale gentleman’s clubs had gained momentum in the late 1980’s and was in full stride going into the 1990’s. Two of the driving forces behind the new popularity were Thee Doll Housechain and The Men’s Club chain. Both had reputations for lavish facilities and beautiful women. Thee Doll House was an east coast chain and The Men’s Club was Texas based. The owner of Thee Doll House in Raleigh, NC saw the Tyvola location in Charlotte as an opportunity to have premier clubs in the two largest cities in North Carolina so he acquired the property and began renovations. Fortunately for The Men’s Club the cost exceed Thee Doll House expectations and the owner soon abandoned the project.Ironically, now almost 15 years later, The Doll House in Raleigh is a The Men’s Club. A real estate agent brought the project to the owners of The Men’s Club attention in 1993, the same year they were opening their 18,000 squarefoot location in Dallas, TX. The Dallas club opened to a huge success a motivated ownership to pursue additional opportunities. Charlotte held some interest but obvious research needed to be done. At the same time plans were already underway for the opening of The Men’s Club in Mexico City. A scouting team came to Charlotte to determine the viability of the Tyvola location and the feasibility of opening two large projects in two different countries in the same year. Charlotte met all the criteria of an ideal expansion location. It was a dynamic city experiencing tremendous growth. The city had a solid financial reputation and the city fathers were making bold moves to challenge Atlanta. They brought in NFL and NBA teams and the city supported both. The Tyvola location was just a couple of miles from the NBA stadium and just 12 minutes from the international airport. The decision was made to acquire the property. The result of that decision was a one-stop entertainment complex like none other in Charlotte. With complimentary valet and full service detailing available during all hours of operation a guest’s first impression of The Men’s Club is that they are in for a very special experience. And they are. Upon entering the lobby they are immediately surrounded in luxury from the mahogany walls to the inlaid granite floor that leads past Venue Boutique. This boutique features contemporary clothing and accessories for both men and women and has fun fashion to add intrigue to the boudoir. Before entering the main club and dining room the guest views a 200 gallon tank stocked with fresh Maine lobster for their dining pleasure. Then it is through the beveled glass paned double doors to a world of sensual pleasure. Guests are immediately drawn toward the wine tower wrapped bythe impressive stair case to the Sky Lounge. The Sky Lounge provides both an aerial view of the Club activities and amore intimate socializing experience. A twelve foot circumference blown glass Fire Ball chandelier illuminates the entertainers and guests as they enjoy libations and fine food in a residential setting with sofas, loveseats, over-sized wing-backed chairs and coffee tables. This is the perfect setting for a unique date or a group party. Arrangements can be made through any manager. For guest who prefers a high-energy environment the main club room is ideal. The state-of-the-art sound and light system provides a show in andof itself. Add in 5 bars and 3 stages and there is something to titillate the senses everywhere. Though the sense of sight is forefront, it is important to remember that “taste” is equally important therefore The Men’s Club is known for its fine food. Yes, this is a fine dining establishment featuring Prime Filet-Mignon and Live Maine Lobster to a great cheeseburger or garden fresh salad. All of which can be complimented with a bottle from the “Wine Spectator” Magazine award winning list. The professionally trained staff will help you select the perfect bottle to satisfy every taste and budget. Wine makes every meal better but if you are in the mood to just hang out with your friends, drink ice-cold beer and watch your favorite team on TV,The Men’s Club is the ultimate sports bar.
