About me:

The New Gay is a website, not just this MySpace page. We are a Washington DC forum for L/G/B/T people whose interests extend beyond the focus of mainstream gay culture. We write about music, local events, ideas, local and national news (gay & non-gay), and gay life from a New Gay perspective. We also encourage community participation by allowing anyone to post their thoughts here.

Who I'd like to meet:

Our target audience:

Has broader musical taste than just dance music

Enjoys attending events that take place outside of gay bars

Tends to be thought-provoking, informative, and funny.

Takes an interest in more than just fashion, celebrity, body worship, and other superficial concerns (although we aren't throwing out our tight t-shirts)

Wants to connect with others like themselves

We're also always looking for contributers. Do you have a rant gestating inside you? Submit it to TNG. Are you involved in a cool project or want others to know about an event? Contact TNG. Do you enjoy writing reviews of interesting books or quality films? Send them to TNG. Do you write short fiction or poetry? TNG can probably find a place for it. If it's good writing and you don't cover Paris Hilton's latest blowjob or review Britney Spears' latest album, we will probably post your shit.

You can expect a broad range of topics on TNG because our audience is broad, and the subject matter may or may not be gay-centric, but we will strive to keep the posts thought-provoking, informative, and funny.

How widespread is the phenomenon?... are the rates of new infections zero or nearly zero for sex partners taking part in the phenomenon?... of the strategy of "Let's get tested TOGETHER BEFORE we have sex, for A VARIETY of STDs." Sexual health checkups reduce ambiguity/risks and can be like anything else POTENTIAL sex partners do together.
