Freedom Village Quit Smoking

Dear Tobacco Free Florida,

This is not a for profit anouncement but a way to promote quitting smoking on Freedom Village Quit Smoking Forum. I will understand if you wish not to have this message posted on your MySpace site.

Coming soon……A FREEDOM VILLAGE QUIT SMOKING FORUM CONTEST!

I will soon be announcing a contest here on Freedom Village Quit Smoking Forum for smokers who want to quit, smokers who have recently quit or long term ex-smokers who have been quit for a year or longer. I’m not yet sure how I want to conduct this contest or what the rules will be but I’m thinking the prize or prizes, combined, could total as much as $250.00! (This is an amount I have committed to withdraw from my Savings and I know it will be well worth it.) All I can say is, keep an eye on this Forum and make posts you think will help others to quit cigarettes…..tell your story about how you quit or what makes you want to quit, etc., and who knows….this may or may not turn out to be the contest and you may be an instant winner(s). I haven’t determined the start date or the end date so stay tuned.

I care about Freedom Village Quit Smoking Forum and what it stands for. I want to try and keep it alive, keep it going to help someone quit this deadly addiction and to keep it ad-free.

Those of you who visit on a regular basis, I hope you will do all you can to bring in potential members, quitters and potential quitters of tobacco. Post FV’s link and contest on your MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and any other sites you may visit to let them know this is not “for profit” but only a means of non-profit support in quitting smoking and staying quit from smoking. FV seems to have gotten a reputation for being a place only for long term quitters and that is not entirely true……..we are a forum for all phases of quitting tobacco abuse.

Respectfully yours,

James aka bubbajames

Tobacco Free Florida,

PLEASE continue your efforts in bringing about awareness to tobacco abuse. Just recently my neice Cindy was diagnosed with COPD.....she is only 32 years old and the daughter of my younger sister who died at age 47.....as I'm sure was a result of 37 years of smoking...yes...my sis, Cindy's mom started smoking when she was 10 years old! My eldest sister Joy suffered and died as a result of COPD......after 38 years of smoking. It is still hard for me to believe, at 32 years old my neice has COPD.....she is stunned and tells me, "I want to see my children go to college."

Respectfully Yours,
James aka Bubba

Visit us on MySpace or go to our site for World No Tobacco Day e-cards, videos and more: http://www.ucanquit2.org/facts/WNTD/default.aspx. Quit Tobacco--Make Everyone Proud is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense.

I almost died from the cigarettes. I was put in the hosp on 3-28-09 for pancreatitis and developed ARDS and was given a 30% chance to live. I made it and came home on 05-04-2009 and still am a nonsmoker. Its hard.... the urge is still there and so strong, but looking at a pic of me with all the tubes in me in the ICU reminds me and the hole in my neck from the trach reminds me and helps. Please dont start. I am only 32 with small kids who need me. To all who have quit YOU GO!!!! Stick together and we will make it! Valerie

Are there any laws being worked on that will keep those who smoke so many feet away from those who don't???

ie: Smoking around children under the age of 18 (like, in the car!) or how about not smoking in front of entrances of restaurants, grocery stores, department stores, etc...
