Blues and jazz supporters from far and wide have spent the past ten years enjoying one of Roanoke’s finest festivals –the Taste of the Blue Ridge Blues & Jazz Festival. After much thought the decision was made after the 2006 festival to take the event in a new direction. The festival would showcase strictly upbeat blues entertainment and would now incorporate a rib cook-off. The goal of the Big Lick Blues festival is to highlight the same world-class entertainment and signature Roanoke cuisine that has been represented through TOBRbut in a relaxed fun and high-energy atmosphere. EventZone welcomes Big Lick Blues into our family of high quality events and we hope you will come help us enjoy some Rockin’ Riffs & Ribs! More details are on the way so stay tuned!
Past TOBR Performers Include:
James Cotton, Guitar Shorty, Rodney Jones & Lonnie Plaxico, Eddie “The Chief” Clearwater, John Mooney, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Kenny Neal, Luciana Souza, Reba Russell, Maria Muldaur, Sam Cockrell & the Groove, Rene Marie, Robert Jospe & Inner Rhythm, Bernard Allison, Eve Cornelius, Nappy Brown, Pinetop Perkins, Little Charlie & The Nightcats, The Love Dogs, Pine Top Perkins, Hubert Sumlin, Sonny Fortune, Blues Hangover, Anson Funderburgh & The Rockets, Bob Margolin, Joey Defrancesco, Walter Bell, Long John Hunter, Russ Wilson, Paul Rishell & Annie Raines, Stephanie Nakasian, Jimmy Thackery, Duke Robillard, The Bruce Katz Band, David Fathead Newman, Billy Boy Arnold, Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials, Chip McNeil, Joe Beck and Sarah Brooks, Corey Harris and more.

There is inconclusive evidence as to whether washboard-fueled vaudevillian ragtime/jugband blues and hillbilly swing madness improves or otherwise impacts your health. Thank you for taking a chance on it. Hopefully we will meet in person soon, where we can discuss at length these and many other fascinating topics.
Best,

Stardriven Entertainment, Pirate Troop Productions and WVHOTWIRE.com have joined forces to bring you the biggest talent search contest the two Virginia's have ever seen. The Star Power Search 200 acts 100 Active Rock, and 100 Urban from West Virginia and Virginia will compete in a series of shows over the next 9 months
There are two categories of competition, Rock and Hip Hop.
Active Rock includes Punk, Folk, Alternative, Metal, or any other form of Rock. Urban includes Rap, R&B, Soul and any other form of Hip Hop.
All acts who enter the competition will receive a perks package. Perks Package include; Stardriven representation, at least two performances at Talent Search events, full promotion on StardrivenEntertainment.com (Bio, Pictures, Band Info, Two Singles, and a Cover of Choice), Free Grade B promotion on WVHOTWIRE.com.
Advancement in the tournament is determined by which acts have the most points at the end of each round. First round elimination occurs after three months so you will have plenty of time to build your hype to advance to the next level. Stardriven suggests expanding your myspace friends list to prepare. For example an Act with 1,000 friends will not be as affective with online voting as an Act with 10,000 friends.
There will be 40 winners total; 20 Bronze Star winners(10 Hip Hop and 10 Rock) 10 Silver Star winners (5 Hip Hop and 5 Rock) 8 Gold Star winners (4 Hip Hop and 4 Rock) 2 Platinum Star winners (1 Rock and 1 Hip Hop)
Each Star winner will receive a price package.
Platinum winners receive the following:
A Platinum Star Trophy 1 Full Length Professional Stardriven Produced Album 1 Professional Stardriven Produc
