Sounds Like
Personal, emotional, vocal-led, acoustic...
The reach should exceed the grasp - thats what writing and reaching for the song is all about. The reach for the expression of the world you are trying to create and express. The audacious attitude is part of that reach and aim...and sometimes, sometimes you can get close. These songs are the sound of that reach.
Allen Ginsberg once said, " The poet's job is to make the private world public." It is the singer-songwriters job also.
Melodic, bittersweet songs written by Brighton-based singer-songwriter Toby Slater. Available on this page are some stripped down guitar and vocal recordings. The songs are a snapshot blueprint of a developing talent: Soon to be announced are details of live solo performances in the Brighton area and a full production recording to follow...
The songs are heartfelt and lyrical. The themes are faith and doubt and love and loss. Broken-hearted, earthy but dream-fused songs about memory and yearning. Songs of hope and fear and of time passing...through the personal lens.
