Todd Almond has been performing regular gigs with his band--Jeremy Chatzky, Tricia Scotti, and Ethan Hein--at some of the top venues in NYC including THE ZIPPER FACTORY, ARS NOVA, and JOE'S PUB. Recently, his show TODD ALMOND LOVES YOU was a featured event at the New York Musical Theatre Festival.
As a composer for theater, Almond has written shows for Mitu, the company-in-residence at New York Theatre Workshop, for Juilliard, NYU, The Peterborough Players, and
for CITY AT PEACE. His award-winning musical, PEOPLE LIKE US, was featured at the 2005 New York Musical Theatre Festival. Along with THE HIDERS frontman Bill Alletzhauser, Almond scored the independent feature WTC VIEW. He collaborates with composer Paul Hogan on contemporary opera, and is currently working on a new show with MITU, called MEXICO CITY. Almond music-directs and orchestrates as well--most recently, he music-directed a production of the infamous WEIMAR NEW YORK at the Spiegeltent. Last year, along with his company, MITU, he re-orchestrated and conducted the "bald" version of HAIR and New York's Skirball Center.
As a singer, Almond has recorded two albums of art songs with composer Ellen Mandel. NPR's ALL THINGS CONSIDERED raves, "I wish I could give this CD to every poetry lover I know."
As an actor, Almond was the first to perform I AM MY OWN WIFE after Jefferson Mayes. Other roles include Hedwig in HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, Bernard in A NUMBER, Torvald in A DOLL HOUSE, and Mikey in PEOPLE ARE WRONG.
