About me: Todd Cuffaro, a 23 year old recent college graduate (he received his BA in Business Administration from the University of San Diego in December of 2006), began his racing career racing off-road motorcycles at age 14. After competing in the District 38 FRT and Superstition Championship Series’ he expanded his horizon by venturing into the Best in the Desert and Score International races.
Todd moved to off-road cars after breaking his back in motorcycle crash during the Best in the Desert Tonopah 300 in August, 2002. He was co-driver in a Pro-Truck for two years before racing his own Class 1600 car in the MDR, SCORE International and Best in the Desert Series races. In 2005 Todd joined forces with Hansen Ranch Racing, assisting in the acquisition of two Porter Class 1 cars. He was instrumental in developing these cars along with a purpose built race shop.
His racing career sidelined somewhat in 2006 due to knee surgery to repair a severely torn ACL (yet another off-road motorcycle injury), is excited about 2007 where he will compete in the Best in the Desert Series in the Hansen Ranch Racing Class 1 car and tackle a few SCORE International races, too. Todd has branched out into the SCCA Formula Russell Championship – his first experience in open-wheel formula car competition. He got a podium finish in his first ever Russell Championship race (his first asphalt race ever) in February and will compete in the entire series this year.
Todd’s dedication to racing is even more recognizable when viewed in connection with the behind the scenes events of his life over the same period. In addition to being a full-time student, Todd has been continually employed nearly full-time. He started working at 15 as a mechanic/cashier in a motorcycle repair and parts and supplies shop where he eventually became co-manager. His 5 year tenure there overlapped his work as a race car mechanic and machinist at Hansen Ranch Racing.
In early 2006 Todd became manager of the Hansen Ranch Race team. He and a partner have opened an aerospace and automotive parts machining company, Miller Machine Works, and Todd is opened an off-road race car prep and fabrication company – Cuffaro Motorsports. With his hands-on entrepreneurial business experience and a degree in Business Administration under his belt, Todd has a solid understanding of the business side of the racing industry, too. He appreciates the importance of product promotion and the essentials of a solid marketing strategy for the team and its sponsors. Todd, known not only for his racing skills, but for his polite and friendly manner is well known and well respected in the off-road race community.
Hey Todd, Thanx for the add....... Just wanted to stop by and say hi and to let you know we just finished building a brand new website for racers, families, friends, sponsors of racers and promoters.. www.WTFRACE.com We built this new website so that you can post pics, videos, polls, blogs, forums and meet other people from around the world that race. This site is for everyone from 4 year old's racing bmx to 94 year old's racing Bonneville. Doesn't matter if you have an engine, pedals, sails, wings, a radio control in your hand or the gravity taking you to the finish line. You could race professionally or at local tracks it doesn't matter. We hope to build this site so that all of you can have a place to showcase your rides in every way. You can even use our site to promote your own web pages. Once you log in, there is a lot more to see and do also. Think of this as a Myspace/facebook for racers....... www.WTFRACE.com Hope to see you there.........Mike
