New-school, urban Gospel group, Todd Curry and Focus, was formed in the spring of 2003. Rooted in Greensboro, North Carolina, not only did they physically enter a new season, but embarked on a new beginning to an incredible journey. The group, consisting of anointed minstrels, led by Gospel impresario, Todd Curry, would lay and continue to build on the foundation of “pure” ministry.
The vision for TLC Outreach Ministries Inc. (parent company to Focus), given to Curry and his wife in 1997, would ultimately become the base of this phenomenal group. As an ordained Elder, Minister of Music, musician, singer and songwriter, Curry purposed to ensure that all of these elements would work together, keeping God’s intent of reaching people and saving souls at heart. Even now, as Focus expands their ministry to include a music industry career, Todd affirms that, “God and the ministry will always come first.”
Standing as a vocal/musical powerhouse in its own right, Focus’ style can be compared to that of Gospel acts such as John P. Kee and New Life Community Choir, Donald Lawrence and Tri-City Singers and Kirk Franklin. However, the most standout fact about this group pertains more to their character than it does to their sound. Focus seeks to bring something new to an industry that has become increasingly tainted, parading righteousness masked by corruption. It is with the main intent of dispelling negative connotations of gospel music and displaying that it “really” is about the ministry that Todd Curry and Focus look to reach people with their music.
Their debut project, “It’s All Good”, was produced by Grammy and Stellar Award nominee, Cedric Thompson, who has done production for Donald Lawrence, John Kee , Karen-Clark Sheard, Men of Standard, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Michah Stampley and many others.
Additional production and vocals on the project were done by world renowned, Grammy winning, singer & producer, TONEX.
Gospel diva, Lejuene Thompson also graces this project with her powerful voice.
Todd Curry and FOCUS currently have national distribution and you can find their CD in almost every major retail store with Wal-Mart and Best Buy leading the way. They currently have their music on several digital download sites and Ring-tones are now also available for your cell phones!!!
Todd Curry and FOCUS won the North Carolina Gospel Announcers Guild’s Prestige Award for Contemporary Group of the Year for 2007 & 2008 consecutively!!! Todd Curry and FOCUS was also nominated as one of the nation’s top independent groups at the Ensound Music Awards held in New Jersey. This anointed group graced the nation on BET’s Bobby Jones Gospel along with several other television shows.
Todd Curry and FOCUS has traveled the country extensively spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through the ministry of song and giving of their heart.
