Todd MacDonald is much more than a contemporary Christian artist. As a seminary graduate (Master of Divinity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary) his music is a ministry in its own right. Currently living in Nashville Tennessee, Todd is working with Producer Paul Buono to create his first professional recording.
Todd comes out of the folk-rich music scene of Boston, Massachusetts - where he grew up. He received his first guitar as a high school graduation present from his parents. "Thankfully, guitar playing came relatively easily to me," he recalls, "and it wasn’t long before I was making my first attempts at songwriting. Those were such exciting days! I was nineteen years old, a first-year art major at Boston University, living in downtown Boston, and exploring a brand new world of singing and songwriting."
Gradually, over the years, Todd's music became more and more God-centered as he began to sing about his life of faith – both its joys and its struggles – and to pour out his heart to God in prayerful song.
Todd was shaped by the message of salvation at an early age. "I am truly blessed to have been raised in a Christian home," he states. "I have very fond memories of family Bible studies by the wood-burning stove, and of my father playing guitar and singing songs to Jesus in our living-room. I'm sure these experiences played a big part in leading me to pick up a guitar later on in life – to sing about my own faith and love for God."
After graduation from seminary Todd moved to Nashville, TN. He continues to take every opportunity to sing his songs for live audiences, whether at writer's nights around Nashville or in churches around the country.
A pre-release sampler of Todd's current recording project is now available here.
