Everything from Basie to Zappa. Thousands have touched my heart and seared my soul. I long for more.
Sounds Like
Me, myself and I with a multitude of other drummers, guitarists, bassists, singers, pianists, horn players, woodwind players, other string players thrown in the mix.
Okay, I'm in the process of hooking up, and figuring out my new computer setup. So...new solos will be delayed. When I get all the computer stuff figured out, as per usual, I will be putting up at least one new drum solo every week (probably on Sundays). I know, I know, how self-indulgent. If I miss a week, or two, my apologies - it would be because I was super busy. The drum solos will all be first, second or third takes (hopefully!). There will be no over-dubs, and no quantizing - straight off the floor so to speak. The solos will mostly all be played to a click (good practice for me and that way no one can say that my time sucks). I will vary my solos as best as I can from week to week. I hope to have a little blurb about what inspired the solo each week in the 'lyrics' section of each solo (like anyone cares).
Each solo will be numbered (ie Solo 1). Because I can only have four 'songs' uploaded at once I will delete and add a solo each week. If you see that you're listening to Solo 31, for instance, that means that you may have missed the previous solos. Let me know and I can also re-post some 'older' solos.
Now here's some info about me... Well...where do I start? I could go on and on, and on and... I'll try to keep it short and concise (not an easy task). I have played the drums for many years now. My learning curve is constantly on the up swing, and the things that bother me are continually spiraling downward (that's a good thing by the way - as they say, don't make a mountain out of a mole hill - AMEN!). My life is not just consumed by drums these days. I'm a more complete person now - musically, emotionally and spiritually. Drums will always be of major importance to me. If it weren't for drumming, I wouldn't have traveled as extensively or experienced as much as I have (a heart-felt thanks to all the trees, squirrels, birds and insects who gave up their home and/or life for my self-indulgence). It's so exhilarating when the stick touches the drum and vibrations caress the nerve centers of my arm. I just can't let that feeling go (I know...some of you are throwing up right now!).
Anyways...about me...
Along with drumming, I continue to write songs, play guitar, and a bunch of other instruments - not amazingly I might add, but well enough to satiate my soul. I spend my non-music hours watching MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), hiking, studying cryptozoology (the study of 'hidden animals') and reading (current fav book is 'Seth Speaks' by Jane Roberts - a must read if you crave the mystery of life). There's always more...but truly, is anyone reading this? Keep drumming ya'll - and keep listening. But, most importantly, keep positive!!
