My first touring band was "Eight To The Bar" from Connecticut. The've been around since the 70's and have achieved a legacy in the swing and blues world, not unlike that of "Roomful of Blues" and "Asleep at the Wheel." They still tour a heavy schedule to this day. I was with them from 1992 to 1996, following 2 years at Berklee College. I played in some great venues all over the country, shared the stage with some of the finest musicians in the business (I'll resist the temptation to name-drop), and met some of the most devoted music fans in the world. I also ate a lot of unhealthy road food, slept until 2:00PM every day, and got strep throat 9 times in 4 years.
Before joining Eight To The Bar I was in a band with my brothers called, "The Mortones." We played all around New England and were regulars at the Mole's Eye in Brattleboro, VT. There was a solid year during which we were the number 1 draw there. Before that was my high school trio, "Gunpowder Tea." I've played in other jazz, blues and rock bands on the side and have done a lot of solo acoustic work. I've done production and engineering for songwriters and some soundtrack work, including a full score for the movie, "Blood Rites." I've also done a fair amount of parody music, believe it or not. I started recording my original material professionally in about 2000 but have been writing music since I started playing guitar, many, many moons ago.
So unbelievable to play with you again. I've replayed that hour back in my head a million times. We ain't waitin' another fucking 18 years to do that again, I'll tell you that right now. You've become the ripper I always knew you would be...
My friend, I had a great time playing with you, as short as it was, it reminded me that sometime, somehow, we have to play together and do some recording. I truly hope we can make that happen.
Thanks for making it, and for making me speechless on stage :-)

"May I start by saying how thrilled we are to have you here. We are such fans of your music and all of your records. I'm not speaking of yours personally, but the whole genre of the rock and roll."
Check out that "Moanin'" vid. All I can say is DAMN...besides making it all look impossibly easy, I especially like your sneaky guitar licks in the vamp after the bass solo. F***in' A, Morty, your guitar sounds jus' like buttah.
"Wouldn't it be funny Jimi Wannabee if we were playing a song and when you started to solo I left then came back up to play the rest of the song when your glorious moments were done??!??!!? Bet you'd love that!"
I went to the Moleseye the other night for a drink with my sisters. Wow, I saw where the great Todd Morton used to stand and play perfection. Come back to us, just one more time......
Well hi and how the hell are you??? Long time since we have talked!! I hope all has been well!! We will have to catch up soon... I am out in MI still- been 4 years now... but I miss everyone back east. Anyway, hope you have a great 2008 and we will chat soon!!
