Todd Squire's Interests
|
| General | I'm kind of an odd bird and have my fair share of quirks. How quirky? Well lucky for me somebody made a test for it!
| Your Quirk Factor: 60%
|
You're a pretty quirky person, but you're just normal enough to hide it.
Congratulations - you've fooled other people into thinking you're just like
them!
|
Then again, everybody has quirks. I suppose it's just a question of whether they are "annoying to the point of wanting me to hack up a lung" type of quirks, or "yes it's kind of odd but becomes strangely endearing over time" type of quirks. I'd like to think I'm largely the latter, but everybody would like to think that, wouldn't they?
How's about this for an example:
I'm quirky in an "always needs to sleep on the left side of the bed" kind of way and not quirky in an "I've got three dead hookers buried under my stairs and I obsessively listen to showtunes" kind of way. Does that help?
As for interests, I love cooking (say what you want but Alton Brown on Food TV is a cooking god), TiVo (the greatest invention....pretty much ever), I'm a huge music fan (esp. cheesy 80's and hard rock), travelling (I recently went to New Zealand for a month this past fall), Las Vegas (Vegas baby, VEGAS!), collecting Maker's Mark bottles (but I'm not a lush), photography (I'm better than some and worse than most), spending time with friends (grabbin' drinkies and stuff), and I'm a huge fan of parentheses (surprising, yes?). | | Music | I like gobs of stuff. My CD collection is my pride and joy and I pretty much listen to music constantly.
For favorite bands, I have many (Motorhead, Metallica, Slayer, Billy Joel, Avenged Sevenfold, AC/DC, Kathleen Edwards, Gin Blossoms, Megadeth, Gretchen Wilson, Apocalyptica, Fountains Of Wayne, old Goo Goo Dolls, KISS, Fall Out Boy, etc.) and am always looking for new stuff to listen to.
I have my share of stuff that I'm embarrassed to say I know about, let alone listen to (Since U Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson for instance), but we all have skeletons in the closet so I guess it could be worse (I could be a rabid Hanson fan or collect Smurfs or something).
I play the drums (Pearl Export Customs) and can do justice to 'For Whom The Bells Tolls' by Metallica and 'Free Fallin'' by Tom Petty, but I'm pretty rusty and need to get back into the swing of things since if I had to assess my ability right this very minute, it would be somewhere between 'sucks' and.....'sucks badly'. :-)
| | Movies | Ocean's Eleven and The Princess Bride are two of the greatest movies. Ever.
Highlander 2: The Quickening was a huge sack of crap. Compared to Episode I, it makes the Phantom Menace look like Apocalypse Now.
The eleventy-third movie adaptation of Pride & Prejudice (the one with Keira Knightly and Judi Densch but amazingly enough, lacking Colin Firth who seems to be in every damn Jane Austen movie) was another movie that I thought was pretty craptacular. It's a good movie like Michael Jackson is a good babysitter.
PC Load Letter?!?! WTF is PC Load Letter?!?!?
| | Television | I do get out and I have a life, but I still have figured out how to be a TV whore. I have two TiVo's and it's a godsend. There's lots of good TV out there and there's lots of crap, and I seem to gravitate equally to both.
Fave shows: Lost (kickass), Prison Break (one of the best shows on TV), West Wing (they made it not suck the last year!), Battlestar Galactica (oh you laugh, monkey boy. But BSG is some damn fine television), The Amazing Race (thank god they got rid of that family edition crap), Desperate Housewives (although it kinda sucks this year), Scrubs (best sitcom EVER), and Rescue Me (who knew Denis Leary could still be funny without using the word 'fuck'?!?!).
Crap reality shows that I like but don't readily admit: The Bachelor, Beauty And The Geek, Joe Millionaire, Big Brother, Age of Love, Scott Baio is 45 and Single, Rock of Love, and Unan1mous. | | Books | I thought about going either one of two ways for books:
1.) I could gush about how the Da Vinci Code is the greatest thing since sliced bread and the most amazing book I've ever read and it's caused me to re-assess my entire life and it's changed who I am and made me ask questions about things that I never would have otherwise and how I'm such a way deeper individual now and all that other crap.....but that would mean I would've actually had to have read the book. Which I haven't. I think Dan Brown and his publishing house are a bunch of jackasses for waiting so damn long to release the book in paperback.
OR
2.) I could go on and on about what an introspective and thoughtful person I am because I've read books with cool buzzword titles like 'The Tipping Point', 'On Paradise Drive', 'Freakonomics', and 'Blink', and how reading them has made me a progressive man in touch with his feelings and Maslow-vian needs...but that would mean I would've actually had to have read those books. Which I haven't.
So that leaves us with:
3.) I read for fun an enjoyment. I mostly like fiction (Carl Hiaasen, James Patterson, John Grisham, Robert B. Parker, Brad Meltzer, Vince Flynn), but also like books on poker (Positively Fifth Street, Bringing Down The House, The Theory Of Poker), and random compilations of stuff (1001 Places To See Before You Die, Don't Know Much About Geography, Useless Sexual Trivia, etc.).

About me:
Get myspace layouts
I'm a sarcastic smartass and frequently impress myself with my own cleverness (I'm my own best audience).
I would just say I'm a funny guy, but every dope with a web page or a profile says they're funny. Really. Go check. No really, it's okay. I'll wait.
I listen to heavy metal, but I love my mom and don't torture animals. I vote both Democrat and Republican, yet am acutely aware of how much both parties suck. I hate people, but I love gatherings. I binge, but I don't purge. I jaywalk, but I pay my taxes. I like salsa, but hate tomatoes. I'm a huge fan of gravy and chugged a gravy boat for $5 (suckers! I woulda done it for free!).
And when I grow up, I want to be either a brain surgeon, an astronaut, Elvis, or a fireman.

Who I'd like to meet:
Good question.
I don't have white knight syndrome and I'm not out to save anybody. I'm not playing with a full deck, but I have a pretty good idea what cards I'm missing.
