Sounds LikeI've been told I play guitar like Frank Zappa, also Harvey Mandel in a demo review in SF Weekly once. I play keyboards like someone who got locked in a room for long time. I play Cuban Tres like a newby but I'm ok. I'm taking the Dobro to a different place, maybe you will be there when I arrive. I edit digital audio with reckless abandon. Double blind studies have found my voice to produce guesses of: Is that? Beck Gorillaz Marilyn Manson David Bowie Peter Murphy Look for that stuff in 2009, and you decide.

   About Todd Tate
HERE IS A GUIDE TO THE ABOVE SONG SAMPLES!

"Delightful" & "Sleeping Dogs" - Life Love Misery - Alt Rock Trio with a String Quartet - I wrote songs, strings, played guitar and sang.

"Let's Get Drunk" & "Tattoo Daddy" - I produced and played lead guitar.

"El Camino" - I LO-FI recorded and mixed "The Deep Sounds of Bobby Peru" and I played Dobro.

Dance Wit' Sayla" - I LO-FI recorded, mixed, performed EVERYTHING. Including Dobro and Zydeco Tie!

"Gypsy Dirge" - I recorded and mixed this underscore-for-film cue at The Blue Room Studios in 1996.

"Song For Mom" Recorded and mixed by Kenny Stavropoulos. I played keyboards, and bass keyboards. This piece is totally improvised, with Sax by Jordan Wardlaw overdubbed. Elect guitar overdubbed.

"BayStreet_GladToMeetYa" - This is a totally improvised jam at Bay Street Studios recorded the first time I met Mario Cipillinni from "Huey Lewis and The News". Kenny on Drums.

"Ode to Buckethead" - An outtake totally improvised from the "Life Love Misery" sessions. Mario Previti on Bass, Kenny on drums. Dedicated to the masked man.

Hey whas up people! This page is about my music and sharing it with the friends and good acquaintances that I have made, and continue to make as the years fly by. I hope you enjoy the selection of eclectic tunes that I tend to change every month.

I play electric guitar and sing in my upcoming solo band that I am working on with Kenny Stravopolous (Starship, Cacaphony) on drums and Mario Previti ( The Plant, Renegade Studios) on Bass.

This project also includes Graham Pellettieri on Violin (Lead Editor for String Letter Magazine), Cello - Heather Houseman. Also locals Sarah Rayban & Violinist/Viola-ist Vanessa Montgomery has contributed some outstanding tracks to this recording also. There are no examples of this full band with strings on this page. Hope to finish this 12 song CD by March 2009! Big props to Kenny and Mario for all the awesome engineering energy! I've been sitting on the Producers Couch!

BIG SHOUT OUT WOOT WOOT TO RENEGADE STUDIOS

You can also hear me play electric guitar and cuban tres in the 7 piece groove band "Resin 7" recordings at www.myspace.com/resin7 . Not currently performing with them right now.

You can also catch me playing dobro and singing a times on The Deep Sounds of Bobby Peru recordings floating around....at www.myspace.com/thedeepsoundofbobbyperu

I am writing a lot of solo Dobro tunes that are going to be released under the name "SAYLA DOBRO". That material will be released Summer of 2010 within a lifestyle product line I am hoping. Also performing with a live band is the plan.

You can check some raw rock guitar circa 2001 with the 7 song demo I produced at TINY TELEPHONE SF and played lead guitar on for Biker Rockers' "King Money Shot". See in my top friends or www.myspace.com/kingmoneyshot

Since playing guitar at age 13 I've never really looked back. It's always been there; music. From the garage band playing Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Def Leppard to attending SJSU studying Jazz Composition and Arranging with a minor in Audio Production! Oh no! Through many many bands such as Boogieman, Colorwild, 7 Arrows, Rotoruter, Trench, Truman Peyote, One Light Out, Resinmen, Resin.....to co-owning and operating the Blue Room Studios in SF from 95-98, through livin in SF for an exciting decade, lots of hard work, oh and much much good music I find myself in a dream yes...living in Fairfax. Chillin out working on some cool stuff. rockon.

Highlights of the large number of clients I worked with during my time through SJSU and The Blue Room ( with Matt Singleton and CJ Quagliana ) include:

Engineering credit on 1997's Grammy Nominated Record "Ritmo Y Candela - African Crossroads II" by Cuban Percussion legend Carlos "Patato" Valdez. Thank you Greg Landau for the opportunity.

Engineered and mixed 12 song original Cuban soundtrack for NY independent film entitled "Rum n Coke." Released in 1999. Rent it if you can find it, great indie story set in the Bronx and great music.

We all scored our names under the "thanks" on all 2 + million copies of Trains Sony debut CD. All vocals, few guitar and B3 overdubs were recorded at The Blue Room and remained on the master is my understanding from talking to Jimmy back in 2000. I knew those guys had it in 'em when I heard "Meet Virginia" for the first time at a small venue in SF.... Matt Singleton engineered "Father's Day" with them on a Christmas CD we produced for a local music zine called "Soundcheck" I recall. Awesome experience.

The Sony Demos with Randy Jackson and Storm and Her Dirty Mouth. Yes the now Amercian Idol judge Randy ( cool cat! ) locked out The Blue Room for maybe a month it was...to record Storm and her band "Flower SF". Damn cool watching Storm do her thing for so many years. Matt engineered.

Great link check this out! Rare Storm and Train recordings recorded at The Blue Room circa 1995! Damn 13 years ago.

A sampling of the people I have been blessed with their company either as a live sound or audio tracking engineer or a guitar player "back in the day" include David Tanenbaum, Ray Manzerak & Michael McClure ( I ate pizza and drank red wine at the San Jose Hyatt with Ray what a cool cat! ), Dan Wyman, Greg Landau, Omar Sosa, Jesus Diaz, Alfredo Reyes, Sr., Orestes Vilato ( Miami Sound Machine; Orestes had great dirty jokes ), Keith Terry and Crosspulse, Jojo, The Automator, Jay Sciarra, Jim Dean, Marc Senasac, Stephan Jenkins, Moss, Smitty, Steve Bowman, Jeff Narrel, Mario Flores, Ted302, MUK, Stark Raving Brad, Steve Williams, Sourpuss, Brian Kehoe, Tony Kalife, Celso Alberti, Marqueno Brazil, Fifty Lashes, Creeper Lagoon, American Heartbreak ( anyone remember Jetboy? Dont Mess With my Hair! ) The late Bea Kane RIP, Wally Schnalle, Dan Zihn, Francis Wong, KC Filson, Mr. B, and Eddie Gale and many others...

Back in Web 1.0 (1999-2001) I was Co-Founder and COO for Angry Coffee.com, we launched the Web's first pubilicly available Web-based interface to Napster and Napster like networks. We made the front page of the Wall Street Journal July 26th, 2000 and entertained developing a "Napster-killing Application" with the help of an executive fan from EMI.

Thanks so much for coming to the show. Did you get to see the flamenco dancers? They were up front and amazing to watch while playing on stage...it was a great time. The song was called Dream of Me, in case you were wondering. It's from the Beautiful Day CD. Track #4...blessed be!!!
