Bio
An honest fledgling of a group, Tokyo Morose first formed in October of 2006 when Tim Warren and Trevor Edmonds performed on the same bill at a low-key electronic show in a warehouse space dubbed Space vs. Time at the corner of Godfrey and Market Streets in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A short while after the somewhat chance encounter, Tim discovered that Trevor played the cello and proposed the idea that the two of them begin a new musical undertaking together. The following year was essentially a patchy, touch-and-go series of pseudo-rehearsals and scheme sessions, each usually starting with a nebulous sonic improvisation, soon devolving into the two aimlessly making noise and talking about any myriad of subjects that happened to be of interest to them at the time. It seemed as though Tokyo Morose was doomed to do nothing. The honeymoon was over. Roughly a year after Tim and Trevor's initial meeting, they were joined by viola and vocal impresario Erin Lenau at one of their 'routine' Friday afternoon rehearsals. The first rehearsal involving the three resulted in the frameworks of two tunes, more than Tim and Trevor had mustered in a year's time! The next year unearthed many mini-milestones: they played their first proper gig in Lansing in March of 2008; released their first recording (Specific Ocean : SQR014) in November of 2008 and; performed acoustically the following month on Grand Rapids' community radio station WYCE. Currently, the band is in the midst of new sonic directions. In it's inception, the band had a rather blatant electro-acoustic leaning, mixing pump organ, bells, drums, strings and acoustic guitars with subtle sampler and drum machine programming, as is evident on their debut recording. The band have since began incorporating synthesizer, electric guitar, laptop programming and more sample-based rythms into their songs and compositions. Not altogether eschewing their old ways, they've simply sought new ways to augment their sound and develop their sonic palette. The results of this transition will soon be realised in the recordings the band plans to release in the summer of 2012. .. .. -

Michigan Rock and Roll Legends - "Sequence of Steps": MRRL CD Focus
The seeds of what would become Tokyo Morose were sown when multi-instrumentalists Tim Warren and Trevor Edmonds met at an electronic music show almost six years ago. According to Edmonds, "Tim and I played together for almost a year.

It's been some time since we've welcomed a Grand Rapids band into the Stone House. It's also been some time setting up a session with one of our favorite Grand Rapids bands. Finally – everything came together one fine early Sunday afternoon in early December.

'Archeologist' has some very nice windshield wipers in the rain kind of introspection moodiness. Sea of Tranquility kind of dreamy and mysterious. Thanks
