(Speaking French would be helpful)
The Toler/Townsend Band was first conceived in the mid 1990s. The original principals were Johnny Townsend, Dangerous Dan Toler and Danny's brother Frankie Toler. The trio had been playing in Gregg Allman's solo band and when the Allman Bros. Band reformed in '94 and '95, they decided to take their torch and go start their own bonfire...
Danny and Frankie both had played with the Allman Brothers Band, Gregg Allman's solo band and Dickey Betts Great Southern. Frankie had also done a stint with the Marshall Tucker Band. John was a principal in the Sanford/Townsend Band who co-wrote and sang the mid 70s mega hit "Smoke From A Distant Fire".
"Danny and I have been wanting to do this for some time, says Townsend. Now that our CD is finally out there we're very excited and so far the reaction to our music has been fantastic. People seem to love what we do, which inspires us to keep doing it. We've written some pretty cool songs. Please check out "Lonliness", "Sorry's Not Enough", "Novato Moon" and the rest. Also check out some of Danny's great guitar work. He's the man.
We're planning a European tour for the coming months. We're already getting radio airplay in a number of European countries, Scandinavia, Australia and exotic places like Macedonia and the CD has only been out a week.
So, the journey begins! Hope to see some of ya'll along the way.
