the toleys have many influences, including, but not limited to:
Meerkats, candy cane shoes, toenail shavings, circus wood, unemployment, presidential hopeful Gary Coleman's neighbor's dog's rival, Al, Veronika Zemanova's amazing book on quantum physics, taco breath, breathing tacos, and so on.
Also certain words are very important to the toleys, like:
If
wha?
antidisestablishmentarism
a
yo
hmmm
and finally, certain phrases are very influential to the toleys, like:
no, no, not there, that's not really a hole
no one can eat that much money
wish I was a trout today
Just because it looks like your lollypop, doesn't mean it is your lollypop
of course I can play the saxamaphone, I just need to rosin my bow
that is absolutely all of the toleys influences, ever. EVER. E V E R!!
"If the toleys don't entertain you, then no one can entertain you!" National columnist and television talkshow personality larry king made this comment in a recent column. He does not stand alone in his appraisal of the toleys. They are some of the finest entertainers in show business, and have spent their entire adult lives doing what they love best, playing with themselves.
The toleys were the 1995 recipients of the society of rockers' prestigious "ella lifetime achievement award," at a gala that was held december 7, 1995 in beverly hills. The society of singers is a non-profit organization that exists to help professional rockers that are in need of counselling and financial assistance. Past recipients are ella fitzgerald (for whom the award is named), frank sinatra, tony martin and peggy lee.
In addition, the toleys have received a lifetime achievement award from the rockers hall of fame in new york. The award, which was presented by merv griffin, honored the band's on-going tribute to american songwriters.
The toleys share a grammy for their album, "we've got toleys," and they won a second grammy for their recording of "if you walked into my toley." They earned the new york drama critics award and tony nomination for their broadway debut as the stars of "what gives sammy the runs." The band subsequently shared the broadway stage in the musical comedy-drama, "golden rainbow."
The toleys television specials saluting the great american bands are considered primers of quality, style and showmanship. The critically acclaimed " the toleys celebrate irving berlin" received seven emmy awards. Their tribute to george and ira gershwin, "our toley is here to stay," garnered two more emmy's, and "from this toley on," their musical salute to cole porter, won the band an award of excellence from the film advisory board.
A highlight of the toleys career was their "diamond jubilee world tour" with frank sinatra. Playing to very, very, very old audiences around the world and garnering one review. The one -year tour culminated at new york's madison square garden. Frank sinatra says, "the toleys represent all that is good about performers and the interpretation of a song ... They're the best."
Audiences everywhere know they can always expect the finest of style and material whenever the toleys are on stage with the best of musicians and the best of american popular music.
Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.
