One of the most unique artists to ever play the instrument, whose original sound, depth of artistry and feeling is what has made him so highly sought after by so many recording artists.
An impressive list that includes, Don Henley, Al Jarreau, Natalie Cole, Earth, Wind and Fire, Andrea Bocelli, David Foster, Brian McKnight, Billy Idol, Michael McDonald, Dave Grusin, Gino Vanelli, Dave Stewart, Kenny Loggins as well as working with studio giants such as Steve Gadd, Christian McBride, Harvey Mason, Vinnie Colaiuta, Jim Keltner, Jimmy Haslip, Ricky Lawson, Robben Ford, Russell Ferrante and many others. He’s also well known for playing the melody in the theme for the classic television series “Northern exposure” and he's prominently featured in the Jazz group "Shapes" produced by Jimmy Haslip of Yellowjackets fame.
Now living in Europe he is still quite busy recording for artists in America (via the internet) and also lots of artists and independent acts in Europe.
A chromatic harmonica player whose signature sound people mention in the same breath as Stevie Wonder and Toots Thielemans and a blues harmonica player whose command of the instrument is nothing less than breathtaking. A rare combination that truly puts him in a field by himself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ New and upcoming releases that Tollak appear on include The new CD by Amy Holland McDonald- Journey to Miracle river, "Fly away" the songs of David Foster, and the upcoming album of Chinese super star Jackie Cheung.
"Tollak is a multithreat on today's scene, composer, keyboardist ,vocalist.
His musicianship goes from jazz to rock AND he plays blues AND chromatic harp!!
A superficial analysis shows allegiance to Stevie Wonder but he really has ''his own thing''.
Very impressive!! We all can learn and expect a lot from Tollak!"
-Toots Thielemans
"He's such a great musician"-David Foster
You need to check out the new Victoria "Blowbox" Harp amp! I was instrumental in designing and getting into their line of top shelf amps. Go to youtube and search me "James Reeser" and there are a couple of recent vids featuring it.
It is a 45 watt 2X8 amp. It looks like a tweed head but yes it has 2 8" speakers in it. No one can believe such a fat rich tone comes from a little amp. It is versatile... light weight... It can be plugged into any speaker cab as it has 2, 4 and 8 ohm output taps. It also has a switch that makes it either a stock 59 Bassman if that is your tone (also for guitar if desired) or flip the switch for the harp special circuits and rich fat harp tone! And yes has plenty of power as a stand alone to keep up with just about any band.
Cher Ami, Mon clip Neurofibro est en ligne depuis hier. Il parle de la maladie génétique orpheline, la neurofibromatose, dont je suis atteint et qui m’a paralysé il y a maintenant 10 ans. Il faut absolument se mobiliser. Si vous voulez nous aider, merci de le regarder et de le diffuser à toutes vos connaissances. Pour nous, les malades, c’est vital. Plus le clip sera vu, plus la maladie, sera connue, plus nous aurons de poids dans les médias et surtout plus on aura de chance qu’un médicament soit trouvé. Merci à tous.
Dear Friend,
I posted my clip, Neurofibro, to my myspace page yesterday and I hope you will take a moment to watch. It talks about the genetic, childhood disease, neurofibromatosis, which I have and which has left me paralyzed for 10 years now.
For those of us, who are sick, it is vital to mobilize for a cure. Please, watch my clip and, if you would like to help, please send it on to your friends. With this clip our voice will be heard, and more people, and the media, will learn about this tragic disease. By spreading the word we will have achieved something great, a better chance at finding the cure we so desperately desire.
