I am 1/2 of the folk rock duo Brewer and Shipley. I have a gold record for the hit "One Toke Over the Line" and have toured with everybody from the Eagles to Jethro Tull.
About me: shipleyt. Once a hippie musician, I turned television producer after the gold rush. As a musician and part of the musical group Brewer and Shipley we had a hit with the song "One Toke Over the Line." Michael and I still tour on occasion and I love seeing old fans, old friends, and old places. The last time I looked The Little Bear was still a mountain bar in Evergreen, CO. Amazing!
As a television producer I have a production company, Tarkio Communications, which has done projects for industry, commercial television, and PBS. Currently I am also the videographer for Missouri University of Science and Technology. I have a few of my videos here on MySpace TV. Check out the video below "Once We Were Hippies," where my oldest son Marc comments on hippies, music festivals, and his brother Matt's drumming.
You're still a hippie musician! And one I enjoy playing with very much. Was'nt last weekend the best of times? I'm blessed by our friendship and music. LARRY "Gator" Knight.

Hey, we just wanted to drop by to let you know that we have posted our Fall issue of Artistic Pursuit magazine on our website at artisticpursuit. org. It has some of our favorite Myspace and Artistic Pursuit artists spotlighted. Please check it out and support your fellow independent and amateur artists. We also have listed the top artists for the month of November. Be sure to check to see if you're one of them. Here's a video about our Magazine and winners.
Eliminate all BUTs from your life. Think about what the effect of BUT is in your communication to yourself and others. When we talk to ourselves we often use BUT to distort our reality in a way that leads us to go down familiar negative paths. We tell ourself a postive and then use BUT to take it away a lot of times. We tell someone that we love them and then we spoil it by saying BUT this is happening which our special person interprets as we don't really love them. I am successful BUT I am not as motivated as I want to be. Does this take away from the pleasure of being successful or does it take away the success altogether.
Use the word AND instead; you will find that you are more at peace with yourself, and your friends and family appreciate the positive talk. You will even find it easier to get rid of that other BUTT when you stop using BUT altogether.
You hold your answers. So many times people look for answers to who they are or what they want by searching outside. It is as if someone else knows them better than they do. Think about who you talk to the most. If you said someone else you might want to reconsider that answer. Through the years I have found that the person we talk to the most is ourselves. We are continually talking to ourselves to discuss feelings, decisions, and to change the meaning of what we are experiencing at the time. This process of inner talk is one of the key secrets to how we create our reality.
You already know the answer to your questions most of the time. The challenge is actually accepting it for what it is. In your perfect world how would you like to be this week, next week and the weeks to come? You are in charge of who you are today and the next so have some fun with it my friend.
Stopping by to say hello and say thanks. Have you ever had one of those weeks that life likes to challenge you at every turn? Well this has been one of them for me. Computer decided to act the something from the terminator series and did not like human interaction and it was like life was saying slow down and focus.
So lets slow down and focus. Do you believe that we attract what we focus on? If so what have you been focusing on things you want or are you putting a lot of thought into stuff you don't want to have. Just by being more aware of what we spend our time thinking about can show us where we are heading at times. Of course you could just say we have to live in this world that the media has created for you and you have to experience everyone's pain that you see and be that martar. I am a little more selfish I guess because I like experiencing everyones joy instead. Nice thing about life is you have a choice so it is up to you.
Many times we spend our life not paying attention to how we operate. Take a minute and ask yourself what state of mind do you spend most of your day in. Do you look for the positive things in life to happen or are you creating a lot of journeys down negative roads? Your body responds to the journeys that you create even when they never come true. Take a minute and think about what kind of experiences you are living that never come true and ask yourself if you would like to change that.
My favorite two words are "What IF" as long as you use them to create fun and excitement. By simply asking yourself "What IF" you can allow your mental state to change. If you practice it enough you can change how you respond and react to any situation.
We are blessed with so many abilities and the only limits we have are the ones the we place upon ourselves. Your life can be anything you want it to be and if you play "What IF" enough you can actually teach your subconscious what choices to make because you rehearsed them enough in your fantastic mind.
Thank you so much for adding me to your friends! As I mentioned in my request, I love Brewer & Shipley's rendition of "Yankee Lady" (finding out only recently that it was written by Jesse Winchester ... you do it proud)! I still have 3 of your albums (Weeds, my favorite, bears the battle scars of many a smokey party, among the scratches (proof of its having been played many a time)is eons-old candle wax. I put up "Too Soon Tomorrow" on my space (from YouTube), which is played in conjunction with a photo montage of Heath Ledger ... very poignant! Thanks, again, and thanks for the wonderful music over the years. Love - Susan
