So what is Tomatovision TV? Well the name is certainly different but what does it means? Tomatovision TV comes from a dream I had about bring together the best in Anime, Manga, comics, Toys, Video games, and British Television. Into one group to fans all over the world. Thus Tomatovision was born. To tell you a little bit about me I have been a fan of comics, and toys for about Oh forty years, ok fifty. The first comic a read was Batman, and my first real toy was Marx's Moonbase Playset. I still remember them. Since then comics, toys and television is what I have been into as a fan, collector, and dealer.
I am mostly a fan of animation, my memories of watching Daffy Duck, Astroboy Speed Racer, and Eight Man on a B&W television is still in my mind(WOW I can go back a long way) Then I got color TV just in time for H-B's Space Ghost, and Jonny Quest. Years later I had the pleasure of meeting with Chuck Jones director of many Daffy Duck cartoons and H-B's Joe Barbera.
In the 70's I got to meet Batman creator Bob Kane (see my blog) Who told me all I need to know about Batman and more. At the same time I got really into British TV, I watched everything The Saint, Prisoner, anything Gerry Anderson and of course Doctor Who. That turned into more that just a hobby. I formed Brit TV Entertainment in the 80's a did the only British TV convention that featured Terry Nation creator of the Daleks and Gerry Davis creator of the Cybermen at the same convention.
Not only did I form Brit TV Entertainment in the 80's I had my own store in Chicago that was a fore runner to Tomatovision there I had comics,toys, and something different anime and manga. We had anime running on a giant screen all day long titles like Area 88, Lensman, Robotech, and Vampire Hunter D. At the store I had comic book artist like John Byrne, Mike Grell, and John Ostrander stopping by. I remember having an Underground Comics party with artist like, Kim Dietch, Skip Williamson and Jay Lynch coming by. We did a one of kind drawing for some British comic writer I met in 1985 his name was Alan Moore. I wonder what happen to him.... (I will blog that memory later). But all things must come to an end so did my store I when into computer technology. (I had a degree so I used it).
But in the 90's something happened I found myself working for Midway Games and I got back into television by helping design the Doctor Pinball arcade game and taking it to a Doctor convention in Chicago. (I will blog about that later) Then I stopped dealing in collectible market all together since 1992. But years later I am back with a new outlook. I fell like a did over 30 years ago as a fan. And I want to take fans young and old along with me this time. So in the words of a famous tv show "We are about to control all that you see and hear you are about to experience the awe and mystery of Tomatovision TV"
