Tom had some formal training in piano and theory at Odessa College before he began singing in clubs in Odessa, Fort Worth, and Dallas, Texas.
Al Perkins played in one of Tom's first bands.
Tom played mostly top 40 with a strong blues influence by artists such as Ray Charles, Three Dog Night, and Joe Cocker.
A change in his personal life brought a change in his music in the early 70's. Tom soon began writing and recording Christian music.
He recorded three projects with Star Song Records spanning from 1974 to 1980.
Since 1990 he has been writing with Gaylord Sturgess. He travels from time to time and ministers with his wife, Janie, singing mostly original songs.
