Tom Belton Biog + Remix Discog
Tom's musical journey began as an inquisitive Norwich based 8 year old, who picked up a set of drum sticks and liked the noise he could make with them. By age 12 he had bought his first pair of decks and at 14 was pestering the music teacher at school to buy sequencing software!
In 1999 he left school and headed for London to study music. It wasn’t long before he landed his first job in a studio where he worked with pop music for the first time. As a studio engineer and programmer for some of the industry’s most prolific songwriters, Tom's credits started wracking up and he moved to the world famous Townhouse studios as an in-house engineer in 2005. By the time he left in 2008 he had worked on sessions for artists including; Mary J Blige, Muse, Take That, Estelle, Lily Allen, Snow Patrol and Damon Albarn to name a few.
Meanwhile his personal remix credits were steadily piling up. In 2006 it was the unlikely pairing up of Tom’s studio talents with Ninja Tunes' Coldcut that started what would be a long and winding journey in the remix world. Remixing work from ‘the inventors of the remix’ proved to be a good way to start a career in this field. Turning Coldcut’s down tempo cover of an Elvis track featuring Robert Owen’s vocals into a main room bass line driven disco monster, he soon clocked up heavy rotation with many a taste-maker. The remix also grabbed the attention of labels, reviewers and dancers alike! With mixes under his belt for the likes of Jamiroquai, Simply Red and Level 42, it was around this time that he also embarked on a breaks project, Dascyllus, which was signed to cult underground label Sinister Recordings.
Cutting to the present day, Tom is as busy as ever. His first artist single 'Irresistible' is to be released under his own name, Tom Belton, on the Brighton based label Born to Dance. He’s also just finished working on the soundtrack to his first Playstation video game; Ragdoll Kung Fu - Fists of Plastic as part of a venture he’s set-up called SharpNine Music which creates music for adverts, videogames and TV. The Ragdoll Kung Fu – Fists of Plastic soundtrack is due for release at the end of April.
And when he’s not creating music for media or getting his own artist singles released you'll find him working along side the UK’s top producers as a general studio genius. Failing that he’ll be on stage and in the studio with uber star in the making, Tommy Sparks. Never one to shy away from the art of the remix, Tom remixes with Tommy Sparks under the pseudonym Tommy Sparks & The Fury. To kick off 2009, they've already remixed Lady Gaga, White Lies, Ladyhawke and Tommy Sparks, with more to be announced very soon and it’s only just turned April!

Franco Cangelli stands for an uncompromising quality punch, spiked with motorcity soulfulness, Chicago jack while still gently pushing the envelope. Feel free to call his music deep techno, Detroit techno, deep house… he doesn’t really care about monikers anyway.
