What made me pick up the bass was old school bootlegs of The Police. The raw energy of the band grabbed me and I've never had a choice but to play music ever since.
My favorite comic writer ever!
I've gone through just about every music phase you can imagine from jazz to metal, pop to classical, punk to showtunes. There's something to learn in everything, whether it is what to do or what not to do.
I went through and enjoyed a classic rock phase, The Who, Led Zepplin, Hendrix and anything else you could imagine in this catagory. I love raw energy of rock and roll and channel it for every show.
My teen influences are late '70s early 80's stuff. The Police, Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello, The Pretenders, Fugazi, etc. Anything Bass Guitar driven has always caught my ears.
These days I draw my musical inspiration from my peer group, sitting in song circles and supporting friends at live shows.. You can listen to all the records in the world. None of them can move you like a live show.... isn't it sad that more people don't realize this???
I've been lucky enough to share stages across the country with Greg Klyma. He is a consummate performer and a pleasure to work with. Our duo Vagabond Van is a driving force in what I am doing these days
Comedy is a big influence: Steve Martin, Bill Hicks, George Carlin, David Cross... etc. Political comics who have no boundries at all, like the writers of South Park. It all needs to be said.
Sounds Like
It sounds like fun. It sounds like an electric bass played like you've never heard it before. It sounds like every style you could imagine morphed into one for the sake of your enjoyment.
Whether at The Somerville Theater or playing the streets and subways of Boston MA, Tom Bianchi is always puts on a show. One of the very few "Singer/Songwriter/Solo Bassists" in the country, Tom will mix great songs improvisation, humor and bass guitar skills like you've never seen before.

Hugh McGowan's open mic on Tuesday's at The Burren is Somerville's best! Sometimes you're lucky enough to have Hugh playing guitar with you! Check out 'Too Much On My Mind', a song written by Ramblin' Rick Purdy and modified by myself.
Tom Bianchi aka: 24 HouR ToM's Friend Space (Top 40)
Really dig'n Train Face! Was your new profile pic designed to coincide with the new tune...or is that just a coincidence? Anyways, I'm done with law school this week, so now that I'll have a little more time I really want to get us back down to the Lizard for an open mic!
Great set last night my friend. It was an honor to play a bit of lead with you too. I look forward to talking more about open mikes, and I hope to see you soon in the city. You are the man. - Dan
I'm really sorry about last night... that whole song intro thing... I, um... man, it ain't worth it... I think a compromise is in order... I mean... what I'm trying to say is, I... well, WE... I think we can work it out.
Tom Bianchi you are goood. Opening with a dark string pull into a nice southern Satan song, closing out the show with stand up bass spinning and always a deep pocket. Tom Bianchi grand, GRAND. Thank you Tom Bianchi for being one of "Kaitlin Dibble's Delusions of Grandeur" Friday.
Hi Tom! Thanks for the add. I loved the street sign song. When you get a chance, would you please swing over to my page and listen to "Page Three"? You might enjoy this true tale of lost love.
