  • Bio

DJ/producer and label owner Tom de Neef obviously likes his music to do the talking. Refusing to be pigeonholed by people's perception of any one persona, he has relentlessly reinvented himself through a myriad of production monikers, including: Plastika, TDN, Behemoth, Villanord, Gattaca, and the Bazement Freakz (with Eddie Amador). That's the music that he produces at his studio in Antwerp, Belgium. His talent and passion for DJ'ing can be heard while he's spinning at Roger Sanchez's Stealth parties, Hed Kandi events,... He started with Hed Kandi in 2001 and played for them at the hottest clubs and festivals around the world. He also did a mix compilation for HK (world series 2006) and some cool mixes (brand new heavies, Stonebridge, Full Intention,...). However, despite such club-thumping achievements, some – including Roger Sanchez – still think that he is 'underrated'. As for releases… two huge club monsters: Disco Mirror (on Additive/Positiva) in 1997 and Disco Dancing (FFRR/London Records) in 98. With remixes for artists such as Kylie Minogue (Can't Get You Out of My Head), Roger Sanchez (Another Chance), Kings of Tomorrow (Finally), and Jon Cutler (It's Yours) in the bag and he created Answer as Plastika, which was played heavily by Pete Tong on his Radio 1 Essential Selection show. While a foray into tech house under the name Villanord called Futurescope won support from Laurent Garnier and Jack de Marseille, and his tech-tinged workouts as Behemoth found favour with the likes of X-Press 2 and D'Julz. Tom released his tracks on illustrious labels such as Stealth, Fluential, Defected, ID&T., eye industries and phonetic. 2007 looked very good, with the start of his new label Jacksquad and the first release dragonfly with remixes from baggi begovic/soul conspiracy and Onno…. The release of his Full Intention mix and a lot of other stuff coming up! In 2008 tom did some very cool collaborations with Laidback Luke, a track called humanoidz had several plays by Pete Tong, and all the other big guns. For next year Tom is planning the release of the 3rd jacksquad and he also expects some new remixes and collaborations in 2009 including South Rulerz, DJ Disciple and of course under his Villanord moniker.
