Improvisation is the centre of it and it seems that music is not just an art or entertainment, it is a collective mindfulness.
The recording is when the millions of possibilities collapse, into a single line of music. With no control over those many forks and paths, by sheer thought and chance it is what it is. Improvisation to me is the imitation of this mysterious life we live.

Donald remains one of the few artists who performs solo piano concerts entirely by improvisation. Born in the outskirts of N.S.W Australia he grew up in Tamworth and studied BMUS piano/composition at Newcastle University giving public improvised recitals as well as jazz and classical concerts of many of his own pieces. He was awarded a youth commendation Order of Australia in 2000 for his efforts to music.
In 2004 he moved to London, U.K and has since performed his solo improvisation at Abbey Road Studio, The National Opera Studio, Ronnie Scotts, Jazz Cafe Camden, BBC Studios Maida Vale for the Silver Street program, The Soho Review Bar, The Theatre Museum, St Mary's Ealing, Cafe De Paris, Cafe Cairo Clapham and many more. He has an extensive recorded discography many of it still yet available. He has collaborated with multi instrumentalist Andrew Clermont, clarinetist Mark Buckingham, U.S. jazz vocalist Sirena Riley.
Jazzwise U.K has described Donald's music as "Narcotic melancholy" alongside Riley's lyrics "flow together in a single flow of invention, drawing from the stylistic wells that reference the electicism of Nina Simone and the soulfulness of Dianne Reeves". (Jazzwise : June 2008)
As a pianist Donald plays and performs music from Bach, Bartok to Miles Davis and Steve Reich. However it's free improvisation that interests him most and he regulary performs solo improvised piano concerts and remains one of the few artists to do so on the piano today.
Hi I really like your music!! would you like to partecipate as a pianist to my project? Let me know my e-mail address is vagnini@libero.it Thank you Have a great day
Yeah. The nocturnal way of life takes its toll after a while. Digging "After". I kind of slipped off the reality bridge when i put it on...which is good thing. Ive been taking a leaf out of your book and doing recorded impros, making up fully working lyrics on the spot is darn hard but i think im nailing up something substantial on the wall of er...whatever...feels good eh.
